    Artisan Assistant - Kempton Park

    Job Description

    Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is a global leading supplier in equipment and tools, parts, service and technical solutions for the mining and infrastructure industries.     The Role:

    • To assist Artisans in effective maintenance and breakdowns.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Assist artisan with any service/breakdown related activity
    • Visual inspection of machines
    • Clean workshop, machine, tools and equipment
    • Follow workshop map
    • Check wrapping & hoses
    • Relay messages between operations
    • Provide feedback to artisan on machine condition
    • Comply with SMRT SHEQ management system and the Objectives and targets set.
    • Utilise the correct tools
    • Report Hazardous conditions and acts.
    • Participate in Incident/accident investigations.
    • Technical readings
    • Work on scheduled and unplanned maintenance and breakdowns

    Your Profile:

    • Grade 12 / N3 Technical Qualification
    • Computer literacy
    • English proficiency
    • First Aid Level 1
    • Experience in manufacturing workshop
    • Relevant mechanized mining equipment experience
    • Physical & Medical ability to function in a workshop / underground environment
    • Understanding of the necessity and value of teamwork; ability to work effectively as part of a team.

    The Role

    Provides technical support in mechanical maintenance. Maintains and improves machines and equipment to increase or maintain a high level of reliability, availability, cost efficiency and performance.

    Key Responsibilities

    Workshop Planner - Kempton Park

    The role

    To coordinate planning activities and logistics to ensure effective operation of the workshop to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts and/or customer orders. This service is rendered to Sandvik clients (internal and external) on and off mine site according to Sandvik’s specifications and requirements. 

    Key performance areas

    • Plan and prepare manufacturing production schedules and departmental workflows to establish sequence and lead time of each production operation.
    • Expedite operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen condition.
    • Analyze plant capacity and production requisition data to determine manufacturing processes and required resources
    • Prepare and main production reports e.g. turnaround times, planned vs completed jobs
    • Develop processes and methods for manufacturing procedures.
    • Coordinate and follow up workflow in manufacturing processes.
    • Analyze and monitor costs in relation manufacturing to ensure delivery and budget fulfilment.
    • Expedite spares for production purposes
    • Monitor of spares and coordinate the return of unused spares to the relevant stockrooms
    • Coordinate weekly planning meetings. 
    • Take workshop production meeting minutes and disseminate to relevant stakeholders. 
    • Update production tracker regularly. 

    Profile Required

    Trans4mine Global Specialist - Kempton Park

    About your job
    In this position, you support new and existing applications in the field of digitalization, automation, and mine electrification technologies. You support and interact with our divisions – Surface Drills, Rotary Drills, Rock Tools, Parts & Services and Digital Mining Technologies – and you take customer feedback for continuous product development and communicate recommendations on sound fact-based data analysis and best practices.

    Your responsibility include:

    • Supporting and collaborating with the Trans4mine team with knowledge and insights from customer sites - assisting best practices, sustainable safety, cost, and productivity benefits.
    • Understanding customer requirements and needs by conducting readiness studies and reviews.
    • Providing value quantification and trade-off studies.
    • Operating mine planning and design software to work with customer’s mining plans.
    • Providing fleet size calculations, supporting sites in fleet selection, and supporting sales areas with tenders and global framework agreements.
    • Analyze data and mining processes to identify operational bottlenecks and related continuous improvements.

    You report to the Manager for Trans4Mine Global. The location for this position is flexible between Southern Africa, Europe, USA or Latin America. Ideally close to one of our mining hubs and we offer you a hybrid working model. International travel is a natural part of your job.

    About you
    We’re looking for someone with a university degree in Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering or the equivalent experience gained from a working career in surface mining. You need solid experience in surface mining, mine applications engineering, or industrial engineering, combined with holistic knowledge in surface mining applications. Good project management skills is key to success in this role. We believe you’ve been trained and are component with mine planning software, preferably Deswik, and also in mine automation and digital systems. Acting in a truly global environment calls for proficient English skills, both formal reports writing, presentation purposes and verbal.

    Training Facilitator - P2 - Kempton Park

    The role

    To facilitate/transfer learning ensuring capability according to required unit standard by:

    • Identifying skills and knowledge gaps through effective performance gap or needs analysis methodology.
    • Closing the skills and knowledge gaps though on-the- job coaching and other forms of learning.
    • Participating in needs analysis and optimisation initiatives to enhance the customers benefit of Sandvik equipment.
