    Zulu Producer

    News Planning & Editorial Coordination

    • Plan, develop, and execute daily Zulu news bulletins, ensuring comprehensive and engaging content.
    • Collaborate with editors and reporters to determine the news agenda for the day.
    • Ensure that news content aligns with the channel’s editorial vision and audience needs.
    • Identify key stories and breaking news developments, prioritizing coverage for a specific Zulu audience.

    Content Production & Story Development

    • Oversee the scriptwriting and production of news stories, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and balance.
    • Coordinate with field reporters and correspondents for live coverage and breaking news.
    • Ensure the integration of visuals, graphics, and multimedia elements to enhance storytelling.
    • Write well-researched, accurate scripts aligned with visuals for balanced reporting.
    • Make sure that the broadcast check list is completed before each show is followed.
    • Approve scripts, headlines, and segment structures before broadcasts.
    • Identify newsworthy events, conduct in-depth research, attend diary meetings, and generate compelling stories.
    • Conduct research and write scripts on topics prior to broadcasts.
    • Stay updated with the latest local, national, and international news.
    • Research and gather information on current events and news stories.
    • Maintain a high accuracy rate with minimal fact-checking revisions required.
    • Compile and provide info pack for the Anchors for guest interviews.

    Live Broadcast & Studio Management

    • Manage live broadcasts, ensuring seamless coordination between on-air talent and technical teams.
    • Direct studio and field crews to execute news coverage effectively.
    • Ensure real-time updates and last-minute changes are managed efficiently.
    • Work with anchors and reporters to maintain professional and engaging delivery.

    Technical

    • Proficient in newsroom workflow systems (Dalet).
    • Edit visuals, cut headlines, bytes, interviews, and overlays per script.
    • Conduct research on program topics, including electronic and social media.
    • Retrieve relevant visuals from archives.

    Stakeholder & Team Collaboration

    • Work closely with newsroom teams, technical staff, and graphics designers to ensure smooth production.
    • Coordinate with digital and social media teams to align broadcast content with online distribution.
    • Maintain relationships with sources, experts, and analysts for on-air insights and interviews.

    Budget & Resource Management

    • Optimize production resources to deliver high-quality news within budget constraints.
    • Plan and allocate resources effectively for special coverage, investigative pieces, and live events.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • National Senior Certificate - Essential
    • Advanced Diploma in Broadcast and/or Journalism - Essential
    • Bachelors Degree in Broadcast and/or Journalism - Recommended

    Experience

    • 3 years in Broadcast and/or Journalism and/or Producing
    • Drivers Licences - Essential

    Intern: Research

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Research Support  

    • Assisting with fulfilling internal research requests from research Manager and team.
    • Assisting with conducting competitor analysis to help team stay abreast of competitor movements.

    Assist in monthly reports

    • Contribute to the compilation of monthly reports on audience.
    • Support in gathering and organizing competitor analysis and content benchmarking data.
    • Assist with preparing insights related to audience trends, ratings, and channel performance.

    Assist with any other ad hoc research request

    • Assist with ad hoc research tasks as needed.
    • Ensure data is accurately compiled and presented in a clear and professional format (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
    • Contribute to creating user-friendly research deliverables for internal stakeholders.

    Intern Media Content - Content Administration

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Must be able to manipulate and understand excel sheets
    • Working Knowledge of FCP and or Premier Pro
    • Advance knowledge of formats and aspect ratio
    • Will work on excel sheets to identify formats visually and update sheets.
    • Report Problems on media
    • Working with various departments across the media platform
    • Developing accountability by managing your time, meeting deadlines, and delivering on expectations.
    • Supporting the department’s daily operational tasks, maintaining organised files and clear communication.

    Intern:Compliance

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Compliance

    • Accurately classifying programmes in accordance with the latest Film Publication Board (“FPB”) guidelines, most recent Broadcast Complaints Commission South Africa (“BCCSA”) judgements, training, and feedback from the Compliance Specialist.
    • Allocating relevant warning boards and scheduling times for viewed programs.
    • Viewing all programmes on the timesheet timeously and exercising wise discretion.
    • Updating outstanding viewing sheet and shared drive archiving reports in the prescribed criterion.
    • Updating Broadcast Management System (“BMS”) with classification, comments, scheduling times and warning boards.
    • Writing an adequate classification report with all relevant elements and motivation for classification.
    • Communicating with all stakeholders to flag high classifications, updates, and queries with potential scheduling discrepancies in relation to the time scheduled, age restriction and/or its elements.

    Qualifications:

    • National Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4) – Essential
    • Diploma in Media & Film Studies and/or Communication Studies and/or Social Science Law (NQF Level 6) – Essential
