    Regional Health & Safety Manager - Rosebank

    You will also… 

    • Set a Regional Health & Safety policy and direction which is aligned to the Global strategy and vision and lead the implementation of the Global and Regional Health, Safety & Security policies and practices.
    • Ensure that operations, activities, and processes comply with the Regional Health, Safety & Security Management System, policies and plans, as well as with global fryer fire management group.
    • Promote a culture of change which supports the ongoing development of people, processes and added value opportunities.
    • Partner with the Emergency Response and Security Leadership at all McCain sites to support emergency services and security initiatives at all sites.
    • Manage Contract and On-site operational H&S third party service providers.
    • Maintain the sites Health & Safety Management System to ensure no third-party non-conformances issued.
    • Develop and manage the Regions Health & Safety budgets, cost management and spending prioritization.
    • Lead Regional Health & Safety improvements and ensure compliance is within statutory requirements and maintain all relevant licencing.
    • Manage the implementation of projects (eg. Management of Change; Health & Safety, Contractor compliance, Fire management, Facilities Management)
    • Drive Regional Health & Safety Risk management processes including hazard identification, risk assessment and implementation of risk control measures utilising the Health & Safety hierarchy of risk control.
    • Conduct internal Plants audits of the ISO 45001, Key Elements of Safety and Culture system under the prescribed Regional scheduled intervals and advise on audit actions and ensure that it’s closed out within agreed timeline.
    • Collaborate closely with the Global H&S Director and Regional Leaders to ensure plans are well communicated and supported.

    You will also need to have.

    • Bachelor’s degree in safety or risk management
    • Certification in Health & Safety law, COIDA, Construction Regulations, HIRA, Incident management, Integrated SHEQ Lead Auditors course, Nebosh International Laws
    • Knowledge of OHSACT & Regulations; COIDA; SANS; Health Act; POPI Act; Private Security Industry Act(PSIRA); Labour Law; SAHPRA
    • Continuous 5 years relevant experience in a production and agriculture environment
    • Implementation of Safety Management Standard ISO 45001: 2018
    • Knowledge of SAP, FMEA, TRIR, Strategic management, Train the trainer, Time management
    • Working knowledge of all H&S work processes, in addition to regional site operations and processes.
    • Working knowledge of all regulatory, permit and company requirements for the region, including audit requirements.
    • Knowledgeable of and accountable for compliance with McCain’s H&S standards and Government Regulatory requirements

    Palletizer - Springs

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    Operate the date coding equipment

    • Check if correct date and other relevant information is programmed
    • Ensuring the correct taping of boxes to avoid carton damage
    • Ensuring that the carton date and product coding is correctly applied, legible and in the correct place on the carton
    • Ensuring that pallets are stacked in the correct pallet configuration and slip sheets are used as required.
    • Achieve budget line rates by ensuring that the right cartons are packed onto pallets
    • Assists with problem resolution within capacity
    • Ensuring the correct housekeeping and cleaning of work area
    • Contribute towards waste management.
    • Minimize packaging losses and focus on continuous improvement.

    Loading

    • Ensuring that all wire ties are removed at the staging area
    • Ensuring that the correct product is loaded at the correct hopper
    • Ensure that the S-1 Ticket s removed before tipping
    • Ensuring that the line run without gaps
    • Ensuring 5s on the work place

    Sorting

    • Focus on Rehydration system to make sure its running as required for recovery purposes.
    • Ensuring efficient sorting to remove all foreign material
    • -Report the spillages to the SPOs
    • Being at the work place all the time without fail
    • Report operational and maintenance problems to SPOs
    • Adherence to all food safety requirements 

    EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS

    Experience

    • Knowledge of stacking and loading procedures
    • Safety conscious and efficiency orientated
    • Able to physically handle the boxes of finished goods, loading and sorting of product for a whole shift
    • Technical aptitude would be beneficial
    • Grade 12 qualification
    • Ability to perform well in a stressful environment.
    • Required to complete and be found competent in both written and practical assessment of all applicable training modules within the prescribed probationary period

    Driver: Tunnel Forklift - Springs

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • Responsible for BOS and good catches on the machines
    • Responsible for reporting any safety issues associated with machinery being operated.
    • Complete daily forklift checklist at the beginning of shift
    • Operate forklift as per required operating procedures
    • Compliance to OHS ACT.
    • Good understanding of GMP
    • Maintain high standard of 5S,Housekeeping and hygiene on and around the forklift.
    • Ensure that the CHEP pallets used in the packing hall are of good quality
    • Responsible for taking the filled palletainers into specified cold rooms
    • Responsible for supplying the empty palletainers to the stagging area
    • Responsible for removing waste from behind the tunnel
    • Responsible for moving used palletainer liners from the processing hall.
    • Responsible for ensuring that the processing hall has enough palletainers  for production.
    • Responsible for supplying rework materials  to the rework area.
    • Responsible for communicating with operators for any changeovers.

    EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS

    • 3 years working in a Food Manufacturing environment
    • Attention to detail.
    • Good interpersonal skill.
    • Valid Forklift License
    • Food safety compliance
    • Labour relations act

    Millwright - Springs

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Inspect machines for faults and report on and repair faulty conditions.
    • Complete maintenance schedules and inspections on services plant
    • Remove and install equipment where and when required.
    • Overhaul machines by stripping, examining, replacing and repairing faulty parts, then reassemble and replace overhauled machines
    • Inform supervisor of potential failures and carry out repairs
    • Assist supervisor in maintaining equipment and machinery in a safe and operational condition according to McCain Loss Control and Maintenance Policies
    • Maintain and service all equipment to ensure maximum availability.
    • Ensure plant availability is kept up to the standard of 97%
    • Perform any other related tasks which may be designated to incumbent
    • List all materials required and forward list for ordering.
    • Assist in repositioning of equipment i.e. lengthening or shortening of electrical cables, reposition cables and switchboards
    • Connect and disconnect electrical systems where and when necessary
    • Ensure electrical distribution panel is locked after completion of any work and prior to leave site
    • Parts needed follow up and installations
    • Perform shift work.
    • Perform shut down work when required.
    • Responsible for dedicated areas in plant.
    • Move and install machines as required
    • Fabricate and install chutes, wipers scrapers etc. to ensure proper product flow
    • and minimize product spillage
    • Alter machines to improve performance and limit downtime
    • Commission new electrical installations or alterations ensuring that it is operational and may be used safely
    • Diagnose cause of breakdown
    • Repair faults on site
    • Replace faulty machinery where applicable and take machinery to workshop for repairs and overhauls where necessary.
    • Attend to electrical and mechanical breakdowns.
    • Follow up on breakdowns to ensure completion.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Matric
    • Trade test and N3
    • Min 5 Year experience as a Millwright

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    Regular accurate analytics / data relevant to the various stakeholders

    • Storytelling through numbers
    • Ability to draw on multiple information sources to unearth the real drivers of growth and performance and extract value creating and actionable insights.
    • Ongoing checking of data – accuracy & compliance to definitions
    • Download and source all relevant data from agencies, repositories and make it available to the team in a usable format.
    • Formulating recommendations that are grounded in data findings and can guide critical decision making.

    Ad-hoc analytics  as requested by the team

    • Assistance with ad-hoc requests for information as needed.

    Developing new data sources
