    Field Service Engineer – PLC Controls (Port Elizabeth)

    As a Field Service Engineer within NOV RA, you will be homebased within South Africa and be expected to travel globally on an ad-hoc basis. You will receive training on NOV product lines and gain on the job training accompanied by experienced NOV Field Service Engineers. Key to this role and your development will be your participation in the NOV Global Competency Program. Your existing experience will ideally be within the heavy engineering and/or industry, where you have been responsible for the maintenance and servicing of equipment.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Service, repair, overhaul, inspect and identify faults on NOV Rig Equipment on a global basis. 
    • Support I&C projects as required.
    • Make recommendations on improving product and systems efficiency, maintaining continuous and high levels of operation.
    • Report and update relevant documentation including daily reports, survey reports, parts lists and service reports.
    • Read and interpret engineering drawings/schematics to identify and correct faults, redline drawings/schematics.
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders including Customers, Colleagues and other NOV entities.
    • Escalate key faults or product failures to relevant department and progress through to resolution.
    • Maintain effective communication with customers giving regular status update reports.
    • Inspects NPV equipment for conformance with operational standards
    • Respond to emergency calls for Rig Down situations when required

    Qualifications: 

    • Time served Engineer.
    • Higher National Certificate (HNC) in a relevant engineering qualification (Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics etc.) or equivalent.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years of current experience working with Siemens PLC platforms Step 7, WinCC and TIA Portal 
    • Working knowledge of programming, installation, commissioning, fault finding and repair of heavy machinery in an automation field.
    • Competency in programming of PLC/HMI code –STL and FBD. 
    • Industrial Networking – Ethernet IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.
    • Experience working on drives. ABB preferred.
    • Working knowledge within a similar position either offshore or in an automation field
    • Ability to interpret engineering drawings/schematics.
    • Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Office – Excel, Word and Outlook).
    • Experience in a lead role is preferred.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Working experience of hydraulics/pneumatics is beneficial.

    HR Graduate internship (Port Elizabeth)

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist with HR administration and support to the HR function across all aspects of HR
    • Pre pare as applicable new hire onboarding packets and offboarding termination packets, which includes orientation
    • Learn and answer questions and provide followup for employees, management, approved third party clients regarding company policies, procedures and benefits.

    Software Engineer (Pressure Control Equipment) (Port Elizabeth)

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Design and write software for equipment and/or applications.
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of commissioning and software documentation including updates after release.
    • Provide support for the implementation, training and troubleshooting of software products.
    • Develop and de-bug software products prior to release.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot associated hardware as required.
    • Perform other work related tasks as assigned.

    FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Follow NOV processes to execute projects.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

    • Preferred BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent
    • Preferred 5+ years experience designing control systems and programming PLCs/HMIs.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Develop Software Design Specification for NOV BOP control system in collaboration with the engineering team and customer.
    • Write logic for PLC software used to monitor and control a BOP and its auxiliary systems.
    • Design and program an HMI Application used on a BOP and its auxiliary systems.
    • Perform internal test and customer FAT of BOP control system software.
    • Troubleshoot and Debug software and provide remote field support when needed.

    TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

    • Siemens PLC platforms with experience in Step 7 and/or TIA Portal.
    • Experience with Siemens WinCC OA is a plus.
    • Competency in programming Rockwell AADvance PLC, Siemens, Rockwell Logic family of controllers, and/or GE Fanuc PLC platforms.
    • Experience with FT View SE and ME. Cimplicity or other HMI software experience a plus.
    • Industrial Networking – Ethernet IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.
    • BOP operation and functionality knowledge a plus.

    Application Support Analyst (Port Elizabeth)

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Performs installation, configuration, and upgrades of the Connected Product solutions.
    • Monitors solution performance/availability; suggest alternative approaches when applicable.

    Electrical Design Engineer (Port Elizabeth)

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Research, develop, and design Electrical and electronic interface circuitry for control of products.
    • Work with customers (internal/external) and review project defining documents to understand project requirements.
    • Create and/or design electrical drawings and documentation. (Typical; block diagram, termination diagram, electrical schematic, interconnect, cabling, and assembly drawings and BOMs.)
    • Ensure electrical scope and content is defined during initial design processes.
    • Provide electrical leadership in preparation, and ensure that deliverables projects are controlled with regard to scope, schedule, budget, performing appraisal, etc.
    • Establish design criteria for deliverables using required codes and standards.
    • Review contractual content to ensure technical and regulatory compliance.
    • Ensure subsequent design changes are documented and transmitted as required to internal and external resources.
    • Participate in design review.
    • Provide manufacturing with technical assistance.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or Mechatronic.

    EXPERIENCE 

    • Preferred 5+ years of experience designing control systems.
    • Relevant experience within Instrumentation, Electrical, Mining Machines or Automotive may compensate where there is no formal qualification
    • Practical experience with FATs or Commissioning Equipment
    • Experience with design and engineering of Ex (hazardous area) equipment is desirable.
    • Experience from using AutoCAD design tool will be an advantage

    SKILLS, TRAINING & SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

    • Knowledge of offshore design standards is beneficial but not essential
    • Knowledge and experience in Teams Centre Siemens (Desirable)
    • Having a professional letter/certification in electrical, automation, etc. is an advantage
    • Knowledge and experience with Explosion Proof equipment preferred (Desirable)
    • Generally good IT knowledge and experience from using relevant software
