Key Tasks & Responsibilities 

• Responsible for receiving and preparation of all samples received daily.
• Responsible for planning and distribution of workload in the lab and adherence to KPIs.
• Responsible for compiling and signing laboratory results reports in alignment of certification requirements.
• Conduct advanced seed quality tests, including specialized assessments of seed physiology and results analysis.
• Tracking of in-progress samples and pending results  using dashboards.
• Transfer recorded results into SAP system.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and analyses for internal stakeholders and clients.
• Perform test on sophisticated laboratory equipment, including managing maintenance and functionality of equipment. 
• Troubleshooting the issues on the equipment. Align with global team  for software upgrade and improvements.
• Update and revise the SOP`s according to the test performed.
• Oversee the work of Seed Analysts and Technicians, providing guidance and ensuring accuracy in testing processes.
• Train and mentor Seed Analysts and Technicians, fostering skill development and knowledge transfer.
• Develop and validate new testing methods in line with changing industry standards and research findings.
• Troubleshoot complex testing issues and recommend solutions to improve testing accuracy and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with ISTA standards and other relevant quality guidelines (QMS and GLP).
• Participate in global projects and innovation alignment.
• Order and keep inventory of consumables necessary to perform tests.
• Participate in one PSS/one-Management systems.
• Comply with  HSE efforts, according to ISO 45001,and Bayer safety standards focusing on legal and regulatory compliance and identifying safety risks applying the HIRA methodology.
• Participate in compiling Risk assessments and Job safety analysis.
• Participate in 5WHY problem-solving, identifying corrective and preventative actions.
• Adhere to all applicable legislation, Bayer policies and procedures.
• Adhere to requirements of legal appointments.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide insights into seed quality performance and testing outcomes.

Qualifications & Competencies 

• BSC in Agricultural degree or related field , 
• Honors/ Master will be an added advantage 
• Seed Analyst qualifications
• Knowledge of International Seed Testing Association (ISTA)
• Experience in seed testing laboratory / seed industry 5+ years

Key Tasks & Responsibilities 

Technical Responsibilities:

• Receives and prepare samples for testing, including seed processing, DNA/RNA extraction, and the preparation of reagents.
• Perform routine molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, protein analysis, and qualitative/quantitative PCR, following established laboratory protocols.
• Analyze test data to determine seed quality and produce detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of laboratory results in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Collaboration and Support:
• Collaborate with senior analysts to enhance laboratory efficiency and improve testing methodologies.
• Collaborate with internal teams to communicate test results and contribute to data interpretation.
• Participate in laboratory meetings and discussions focused on troubleshooting technical issues and improving processes.
• Assist in ensuring proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment and relevant software, support  troubleshooting and upgrades
• Assist with ordering of consumables and managing a functioning inventory system
• Data Management and Reporting:
• Record all test results in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
• Utilize data analysis tools and dashboards to report findings and track progress against testing timelines.
• Assist in preparing reports on seed viability and genetic markers for internal and external review.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

• Follow laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain high levels of accuracy and reliability in test results.
• Ensure all tests adhere to ISO, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), and other regulatory standards.
• Participate in internal audits and contribute to the maintenance of the laboratory’s quality standards and certifications.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of PPE and following ISO 45001 and Bayer safety standards.
• Identify and report potential safety risks in the laboratory environment and assist in maintaining a safe working space.
• Participate in one PSS- (One production system) and 5WHY5WHY problem solving identifying corrective and preventative actions.

• BSC Biotechnology , Microbiology or related field

• 1-3 Years experience in related field 
• Knowledge of analytical chemistry and applications

Key Tasks & Responsibilities 

Technical Expertise:

• Perform advanced genetic and biotechnological tests, including UPLC (Ultra-Performance Liquid Chromatography) techniques, quantitative and qualitative DNA analyses, and molecular biology assays.
• Lead UPLC results communication and interpretation, ensuring stakeholders receive accurate and actionable insights.
• Manage and optimize laboratory procedures related to sample preparation, UPLC analysis, and other genetic testing methods, including validation testing.
• Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, including UPLC systems and relevant software, support  troubleshooting and upgrades
• Assist with ordering of consumables and managing a functioning inventory system
• Drive compliance with ISO and other regulatory requirements related to genetic testing.

Team Support:

• Responsible for planning and distribution of workload in the lab .
• Guide and mentor junior analysts and technicians, providing hands-on training and support in laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Encourage continuous learning and skill development through workshops, training sessions, and regular feedback.

Sample Management and Reporting:

• Tracking of In-Progress samples and Pending results  using the dashboard
• Utilize LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) software to manage workflows, record data, and ensure timely reporting of results.
• Update and revise the SOP`s according to the test performed 
• Collaboration in an Agile Environment:
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including research and development, regulatory affairs, and quality assurance, to ensure testing processes align with broader organizational goals.
• Actively participate in agile project teams, contributing technical insights and recommendations.
• Support and participate in continuous process improvement efforts, contributing to the development and validation of new methodologies and tests.
• Quality Assurance and Compliance:
• Ensure testing procedures comply with internal quality standards, industry regulations, and legal requirements, including working with regulated material.
• Conduct peer reviews of test/proficiency testing  results and methods, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of laboratory output.
• Participate in one PSS- (One production system).
• Lead HSE efforts according  ISO 45001 and Bayer safety standards focusing on legal compliance and identifying safety risks applying the HIRA methodology.
• Participate in compiling Risk assessments and Job safety analysis and complies to ESH standards.
• Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, recording of safety observations etc.

Qualifications & Competencies 

• BSC Honors in Chemistry,  Genetics , Biotechnology  or related fields 
• MSc in Chemistry will be an  added  advantage 
• 2-5 Years of Experience in Analytical Chemistry / Genetic Laboratory
• Advanced proficiency in UPLC techniques, molecular biology, and data interpretation.
• Technical knowledge and experience  of LIMS Labware  and Empower software  
• Knowledge of SAP
• Experience in DNA and RNA extraction and related method and analysis
• Knowledge of genotyping and PCR techniques
