    Manager: Mining - Booysendal

    Qualifications

    • Relevant Degree/Diploma in Mining Engineering
    • Mine Manager’s certificate of competence
    • Business Management qualification (Advantageous)

    Experience

    • Minimum of five (5) years’ management experience in a similar mechanised mining environment
    • Project Management (Advantageous)
    • Knowledge of applicable legislation, policies and procedures
    • Competent in functional systems used in Mining operations

    Key performance areas

    • The Manager: Mining is appointed as a 3.1(a) legal appointment in terms of the MHSA of 1996 and is responsible for ensuring that work practices are optimised at such a level that the mine is managed safely and profitably. The Manager: Mining is accountable for the production plan execution, development of people and systems to ensure safe, quality, reliable and cost effective outcomes, whilst continuously improving the process.
    • Operational management of the Mine
    • Support the implementation of company safety strategy
    • Stakeholder interface and liaison
    • Support the overall business management of the mine
    • Employee capacity enhancement and optimisation

    Mechanised Shift Supervisor - Eland

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent qualification is essential
    • Blasting Certificate as recognised by the MQA
    • Recognised Shift Supervisor Certificate

    Experience

    • Three (3) years’ experience as a Mechanised Shift Supervisor in an underground mining environment:

    Key performance areas

    • As our Mechanised Shift Supervisor some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to: 
    • Monitor and implement a safe, efficient and cost effective working environment
    • Monitor and check that the explosives are organised by the miner
    • Plan and organize material for the shift
    • Safe achievement of production targets in line with quality standards and targets
    • Check and monitor the conditions of the grizzlies and for any obstruction
    • Continuously check the conditions of the drives, roadways, pipes, refuge bay, RNE pumps and all abandoned areas to be barricaded off
    • Monitor the safety of the maintenance crew, tramming and all sub standards acts and conditions that is related
    • Compile a daily production report
    • Notify the Mine Overseer of critical areas observed e.g. FOG
    • Continually check for gasses and support structures
    • Check on compliance of TMM operators
    • Inspect working places according to supervision points
    • Ensure compliance to safety standards and procedures

    Additional requirements

    • Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Definitions
    • Valid First Aid Certificate
    • Medical Certificate of Fitness

    Learning and Development Facilitator (Engineering)

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Millwright/ Diesel Mechanic/ Heavy Earth Moving Mechanic Trade Certificate (Section 13/26D as recognised by the MQA)
    • ETDP Level 3 or equivalent
    • MQA registered Assessor
    • MQA registered Moderator will be advantageous
    • NAMB registered Assessor/ Moderator will be advantageous

    Experience

    • 3-5 years’ experience in the Mining and Engineering discipline

    Key performance areas

    As our Learning and Development Facilitator Engineering some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to: 

    • Deliver Outcome Based training to all employees
    • Conduct assessments of learners
    • Conduct moderations on assessments
    • Assist during development of new course material
    • Ensure that training facilities and equipment are maintained in good state of repair by conducting inspections and safety audits in area of responsibility
    • Ensure safety is in line with legal requirements
    • Manage and control administration associated with area of responsibility
    • Ensure Safety and Health standards are maintained
    • Ensure conformance with Quality and Environmental standards
    • Monitor and assign work to allocated assistants according to instruction when required
