• Novus Print: Montague Gardens is currently seeking to permanently appoint a competent individual with knowledge and experience in an FMCG printing environment to take on the role of a Mechanised Bookbinder in the Bindery department. The successful candidate will report to the Shift Leader: Bindery

Job description

• Responsible for the binding process of books, magazines and commercial work 
• Maintenance of Perfect Binders and Stitchers 
• Meet specific job specifications and quality standards 
• Ensure that quality control checklists are completed and kept up to date
• Monitor and ensure safety devices are functional at all times 
• Setup machine and run job according to the work ticket 
• Follow all relevant SOP's and complete all checklists 
• Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximising the effective production and distribution of goods
• Managing a team
• Maintain general health and safety standards in the production environment 
• Ensure good housekpeeing standards are maintained 

Minimum requirements

• Grade 12 
• Mechanised Bookbinder Trade Certification 
• 3-5 years Mechanised Bookbinding Experience 
• Saddle Stitcher experience is essential - Prima, Primera, Tempo Machine

Job description

• Develop and implement account plans and approaches in line with the overall advertising revenue strategy formulated by the Sales Manager.
• Identify and generate new business opportunities to achieve predetermined sales targets.
• Prepare and present sales proposals and presentations to new and existing clients to negotiate and close deals.
• Create tailored solutions that meet the client’s short and long-term needs.
• Build strategic working relationships with clients and maintain a high level of client contact (telephonic, email
• communication and face-to-face) to ensure that their specific requirements are addressed, to monitor and grow existing business.
• Analyse potential sales opportunities by using data analysis, segmented research and information available to identify the needs most required and valued by these clients.
• Provide professional and exceptional client service in all interactions with clients.
• Closely monitor competitors and maintain client database.
• Keep all administrative work updated, including service level agreements and contracts.
• Report on sales opportunities and achievements as required (weekly and monthly); and
• Maintain a high level of relevant industry knowledge.
• Achieved set monthly revenue targets in printed publications as well as digital and social media advertising sales.
• Generate new Revenue models – etc Event sponsorships.

Minimum requirements

• Grade 12, a tertiary qualification would be advantageous.
• A minimum of three years’ experience in a sales/target-driven environment. 
• Valid driver's licence.
• Experience in dealing with advertising agencies would be advantageous.
• Experience in digital sales and marketing would be advantageous.
• Understanding and experience in the media industry.
• Knowledge of sales strategies and concepts.
• Experience in developing sales reports.
• Sound understanding of demographic data (LSM).

Minimum requirements

• A degree, diploma or relevant qualification in Journalism, Media Studies, Communications, or a related field (or a final-year student who will have graduated by the start date).
• A valid Code 8 driver's licence — essential for fieldwork, community coverage and attending assignments independently.
• Strong writing and communication skills in Afrikaans and English. 
• Digitally savvy — confident across social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok and YouTube.
• Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn content management systems, digital tools and media production software.
