    HR Officer – Benefits

    We are looking for a Benefits Officer, to run with the day-to-day administration and advisory activities required to support RBM employee benefit programs.

    Planning, strong admin /support skills are extremely important qualities for the role coupled benefits experience in a similar role and ability to work without daily supervision.

    Reporting to the HR Manager and working in a collaborative community within the HR department, you will:

    • Support employees, HR and Leaders with Benefits related activities
    • (ie Special leave requests, Share plan, Education grants, Medical aid, Provident Fund, Disability Fund)
    • Regular liaison with employees and external service providers
    • Attendance, note taking and provision of feedback in Trustee meetings
    • Manage the Distribution of death benefits process and related activities
    • Coordinate and advise on ill health /disability absences and process claims or requests relating to the benefit
    • Assume responsibility for timely follow up and provision of information to relevant parties to enable decision making
    • Guide and advise employees on benefit options plans and processes
    • Coordinate and advise on ill health /disability absences and process claims or requests relating to the benefit.
    • Maintain /update employee records / systems with relevant information
    • Track and monitor benefits activities (ie. Annual option changes, Etc.)
    • Collaborate with HR, Leaders, Clinic and external support parties for effective communication/action
    • Facilitating Employee Benefits induction for new employees
    • Conduct investigation process for distribution of benefits 

    What you’ll bring

    • Degree / Diploma in Human Resources or related field
    • Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle
    • Minimum of 3 years proven experience in benefits administration
    • Understanding/interpretation of benefit plans and procedures (retirement, health, disability etc.) and local/company regulations
    • Good understanding of Section 37C of the Pension Funds Act
    • Experience in SAP HR is a plus
    • High level of Proficiency in MS Office and understanding of data recording and analysis
    • Excellent organizational skills, communication, and interpersonal abilities
    • Ability to work independently and with a high attention to detail
    • Reliable and adherence to confidentiality
    • Proficiency in iSizulu is essential

    Engineering Manager- 2 Year Fixed Term Contract

    We are looking for a Fixed Term Engineering Manager to join the Rio Tinto team. As the Engineering Manager, you are the Rio Tinto Owner’s Representative for managing the completion of the detailed design and engineering support to field execution for the production of heavy mineral concentrate for further beneficiation at Richards Bay Minerals, South Africa. The project scope includes a minerals processing facility with connections to utilities to support the operation.

    You will be leading the engineering function as part of an integrated team. The role reports to the Rio Tinto Project Director with functional reporting to Rio Tinto’s Engineering Management Lead.

    Key accountabilities of the role are:

    • Apply disciplined Engineering Management governance in accordance with ’s project delivery framework
    • Robust management of the technical integrity of the engineering design with access to subject matter experts and 3rd parties
    • Review of key deliverables and proactive engagement in reviews and workshops, taking a value-based approach to achieving project objectives and requirements
    • Ensure technical and safety in design risk / opportunity assessments are comprehensive, mitigated, documented and understood
    • Oversee the engineering design to ensure it meets the environmental, social, and governance criteria and commitments
    • Management of interfaces with Owner’s team members, facilitating a relationship of constructive collaboration to achieve business objectives
    • Monitor and manage the performance of engineering service providers to deliver to plan and budget, prioritised to meet the construction schedule
    • Leadership in line with Rio Tinto values and project objectives with a Zero Harm approach

    What you’ll bring

    • A Bachelor's degree in  Engineering discipline, Honours will be advantageous
    • Professional Registration with ECSA (Pr.Eng) or equivalent (or eligibility to register) will be advantageous
    • 15+ years of relevant experience in Engineering Management, preferably on major mining projects (>$300M), particularly in South Africa or similar contexts
    • Experience in Mineral Sands operations, including dry mining and tailings systems
    • Proven ability to work across functions and geographies in a matrixed team environment
    • A commitment to safe, ethical, and sustainable project delivery
    • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to influence and build trust

    Senior Advisor, External Communications

    We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Advisor: External Communications to join our dynamic team, leading external communications activities in support of RBM`s Strategic objectives.

    The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in external communications, brand management, and strategic communication.

    Reporting to the Manager: Communications you will be responsible for the following:

    Newsroom Function Oversight

    • Reputation Management, including issues logging & reporting
    • Social Listening & Community Management
    • Media Relations
    • Strategic media monitoring, analysis and reporting of RBM media activities
    • Spokespersons Media Training
    • High-level strategic copywriting for external and critical internal communications
    • Enforcement of company External Communications Policies & Procedures.

    Brand Management

    • Ensuring adherence to Rio Tinto’s Brand Guidelines for all communications materials and collateral
    • Managing above-the-line and below-the-line advertising initiatives.
    • Overseeing the end-to-end production and distribution of key company reports
    • Events planning and management of strategic company events

    What you’ll bring

    • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or Public Relations
    • A certification in Desktop Publishing (DTP) is advantageous
    • Proven digital marketing knowledge
    • Experience in the mining industry or heavy industries
    • Fluency in isiZulu and English is advantageous
    • A valid South African driver's license with  own reliable transportation is required
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills, especially in copywriting
    • Good interpersonal skills that facilitate collaboration with individuals at all levels of the organization
    • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, able to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

    Senior Advisor, Employee Communications – 6 Months Fixed Term contract

    We are looking for a Senior Advisor, Employee Communications to lead RBM’s internal communications and employee engagement activities in support of RBM`s Strategic objectives driven by the mine`s Senior Leadership team (SLT) and other functions including HR with a strong focus on delivering increased employee engagement resulting in improved safety, productivity, and partnership outcomes.

    The incumbent will be responsible is developing and implanting of the integrated internal comm and employee engagement plan which forms part of Communications 5-year strategy.

    Reporting to the Manager: Communications you will be responsible for the following

    • Proven ability to work across the team, remove silos and collaborate with a strong focus on behaviours.
    • Build and maintain trusted relationships to deliver for the business
    • Need to deliver all activity in alignment with overall Employee Engagement activity led by the HR function.
    • High level of collaboration and communication across the Group to ensure alignment with Rio Tinto policies and overall Employee Communications and Partner to Operate approach.
    • May need to manage relationships with external vendors such as RBM`s Communications Agency, digital or creative agencies.
    • Maintenance and enhancement of the RBM brand through the management of team performance and contribution to high-profile and relationship-building activities
    • Ensure that the business is aware of industry Communication and PR standards and approaches as well as integrate their needs into the planning.
    • To support the Global Minerals Employee Engagement plan through alignment with the global communications team

    About you

    To be successfully considered for this role, you will have: 

    • Degree in Communications /Marketing /Journalism /Public Relations
    • Certificate in DTP (Desk Top Publishing) will be an added advantage
    • Digital Marketing knowledge will be an added advantage
    • South African driver’s license (with own car)
    • Atleast 5 -10 years’ experience in a communications role with an internal focus
    • Understanding of the heavy industry will be an added advantage
    • Demonstrated experience in employee communications and creative and brand work.
    • Understanding of the business approach to Employee Communications within the PtO framework.
