    Turbine and Compressor Mechanical Technician

    A Snapshot of Your Day

    • The Mechanical Fitter performs precision inspections, repairs and assembly in the Workshop/Service Centre on steam turbines, high speed compressors, gear assemblies, and related equipment for the power, gas, and oil industries.

    How You’ll Make an Impact

    • Carry out equipment inspections, repairs, and assemblies according to a detailed checklist.
    • Adherence to defined manufacturing and testing guidelines, processes, and procedures. 
    • Ensure that all production activities are according to established quality and EHS requirements. 
    • Contributes to production planning processes, determines priorities based on schedules.    
    • Ensure that all tools and equipment supplied are handled and maintained with care.
    • Develop, manufacture and source special tooling required in turbine and compressor repairs
    • Ensure that the health and safety of employees, plant, equipment, and buildings are maintained in accordance with the health, safety and environmental policies of the company.

    What You Bring 

    • Must have a valid Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or Fitter and Turner or relevant equivalent tertiary qualification 
    • At least 10 years hands-on experience in a workshop/service centre on high-speed centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, high speed gear assemblies, and related auxiliary equipment.

    Experience includes:

    • Removal and fitting of turbine blades, including manufacturing and fitting of seal strips.
    • Dismantling and assembly of shrunk wheels and impellers.
    • Dismantle, repair and assembly of high precision auxiliaries, including oil pumps, barring gears, turbine valve assemblies, turbine and compressor assemblies.
    • Knowledge of assembly and repair of turbo machinery, compressors, turbines, high speed gear assemblies, and related auxiliaries
    • Knowledge and experience of principles, procedures, work routines and skills in mechanical fitting.
    • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings.

    Heavy Lift Technician

    Snapshot of Your Day

    • As a Heavy Lift Technician at Siemens Gamesa, your day will involve performing major component exchanges and maintenance tasks on wind turbines across various sites. You will be part of a dedicated service team, executing mechanical, electrical, and lifting operations. Your role will require troubleshooting, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards while collaborating with subcontractors and other team members.

    How You’ll Make an Impact

    • Prioritizing Zero Harm Policy, having H&S and Quality oriented mindset.
    • Executing assigned Main Component Inspections, Uptower Repairs Main Component Replacements and Retrofits of Wind turbine generators.
    • Able to implement SGRE Procedures into the planning of lifting operations
    • Identify foreseeable hazards associated with applicable lifting operations
    • Knowledge of applying of the hierarchy of controls to mitigate identified risks
    • Ability to select appropriate lifting accessories based on evaluating the load weight, shape, and dimensions and equipment limitations and make appropriate use.
    • Understand the local inspection and examination requirements of lifting equipment and accessories
    • Dismantles, maintains, repairs, assembles, installs, and sets up technical equipment and wind turbines components in a wind farm.

    What You Bring

    • Bachelor’s or Technical School Degree on Electrical or Mechanical disciplines.
    • Demonstrable experience in heavy lift operations; minimum 5 standard replacements (gearbox, generator, transformer) and 3 complex replacements (Main Shaft, rotor down). Minimum 5 years of experience in Wind Industry
    • Fluent in English & Excellent in dealing with computers, note pads, MS office applications.
    • High commitment with Quality, Health, Safety & environmental regulations.
    • Willing to travel nationally and internationally.

    Technician

    A Snapshot of Your Day

    • The Technician is responsible for carrying out planned and unplanned maintenance of wind turbines in a safe manner, whilst adhering to accepted quality and performance standards.

    How You’ll Make an Impact

    • Execution of planned and unplanned maintenance of turbines on site according to SGRE manuals, quality and safety standards and customer safety rules.
    • Capturing of data associated with maintenance activities to ensure proper functioning of the maintenance management system, i.e. registration of hours, works order management, etc.
    • Reporting of faults and defects on the turbine to the relevant SGRE Department.
    • Participate in on-call arrangements in line with the SGRE Standby Procedure.
    • Participate in all relevant technical and safety training from SGRE.
    • The employee is obligated to keep him- or herself informed of the quality system and the procedures related to the position and to work in accordance with the requirements defined in the quality system.
    • The employee is obligated to keep him- or herself informed of the safety, health and environmental management system and the procedures related to the position. The employee is obligated to respond to deviations observed from the procedures and to contribute to activities to improve the working environment.
    • Report damaged/lost tools to the Material Handling Operator on the same shift as the damage/loss has occurred.

    What You Bring

    • Proven experience as a Wind Technician or in a similar engineering role.
    • Strong technical knowledge of wind turbine systems and components.
    • Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
    • Outstanding problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Certification in wind turbine maintenance and safety is preferred.
