    Coordinator: Commuter Student Communities

    Duties/Pligte

    Support Structures and Systems:

    • Developing support structures, systems, and facilities for commuter students.

    Community Integration and Coordination:

    • Enhancing value-driven management in the CSCs.
    • Integrating commuter students' campus experience with residential students.
    • Using clusters to bridge faculties and communities.
    • Overseeing the welcoming programmes of the CSCs along with the rest of the CSCU.

    Community Life:

    • Promoting healthy and inclusive community life within the CSCs.

    Leadership Development:

    • Developing, supervising, guiding, and mentoring student leadership.
    • Facilitating regular meetings with CSC leadership.
    • Attending HC Meetings and other functions.
    • Coordinating training and development opportunities for CSC leaders.
    • Advising and supporting leadership in conduct or disciplinary issues.

    Administrative Duties:

    • Coordinating administrative and facilities management duties of the CSCs.

    Programme Coordination:

    • Supporting the coordination of the welcoming and orientation programme.

    Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Engaging with stakeholders and service providers for additional support.

    Data Analysis and Research:

    • Interpreting and analysing data from the annual CSC questionnaire.
    • Generating research articles and translating them into multimedia for further use.

    Creative and Innovative Development:

    • Encouraging critical thinking and innovation for CSC support structure development.
    • Kindly note: As many of these activities take place outside normal working hours, applicants are requested to familiarise themselves with the available accommodation.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

    • A relevant B-degree.
    • Three years' relevant experience in a Student Affairs environment within higher education.
    • Proven ability to work with and support student leaders within higher education.
    • Proven ability to be able to interpret, analyse and repurpose data.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
    • The ability to function effectively within a team environment.
    • Sensitivity for the needs of a diverse student community.
    • Proven ability to work independently and take initiative.
    • Proven ability to think critically, innovate and problem-solve creatively.

    Recommendation/Aanbeveling

    Lecturer/Junior Lecturer in Mathematics

    Duties/Pligte

    • Teaching a range of undergraduate Mathematics modules offered as part of programmes in the Faculty of Science, as well as service modules in other faculties.
    • Engaging with academic renewal of the curriculum, assessment and student support initiatives in undergraduate Mathematics.
    • Responsible for a significantly larger than normal undergraduate teaching and marking load.
    • Teaching and coordinating undergraduate Mathematics modules with large enrolments.
    • Fulfilling administration duties in the Mathematics Division.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

    • A PhD, completed or submitted or within six (6) months of completion, in Mathematics or a closely related field, at the time of application. For appointment at Lecturer level, a completed PhD is required.
    • Experience of teaching undergraduate Mathematics modules.
    • Evidence of effectiveness of academic teaching and of excellence in teaching to large classes.
    • Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Afrikaans.
    • A research interest in Mathematics and/or the scholarship of undergraduate teaching, learning and assessment in Mathematics.
    • A commitment to pursuing innovative teaching and assessment strategies that enhance student engagement and success.
