Openings at Toyota - 2 Positions

PURPOSE:

• Five of the above positions exist in the RR&D Division for a Principal Engineers.

 KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Component Development, evaluation and Improvement
• Change Point Management and Manufacturing Support
• Project management and coordination (schedule, cost, and Quality)
• Use Global and Regional Check Sheet (Safety, Delivery, Quality and Environment)
• Problem Identification and Resolution (TBP)
• Technical Information Management and Implementation
• Additional Localization
• Project Feasibility Study
• Cost Reduction Studies, 
• Working to ISO Standards

Safety, Health and Environment

• Ensure safety and 4S culture during all activities of the project team.
• Ensure team adherence to TSAM COVID-19 guidelines.

Quality

• Ensure adherence to Department SOP’s and Work Instructions in accordance with ISO9001 requirements and develop new or kaizen as required.
• Show high level of ability to gather accurate information from multiple sources and be able to make accurate summary.
• High levels of capability to prepare documents and presentations for Senior Management under strict time pressures.

Project Delivery

• Drive operations of a regional product planning office with window persons from related Divisions.
• Scope project to achieve “best product” at the “best price” with the “best profitability.”
• Understand and apply critical path analysis in understanding risk to on-time project delivery.
• Conduct product and customer benchmarking for future model front loading.
• Presentation to all levels of management with respect to project status, risks and recommendations.

Cost Reduction

• Understand project factors that contribute to higher investment and impact vehicle cost.
• Manage product profitability improvement activities to achieve project and company targets.
• Drive localisation in order to improve TSAM cost competitiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum NQF6 (minimum 360 credits on the 8-level framework) Relevant Degree/Diploma in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. 
• Min.3 years in an automotive environment with experience in:
• Component development and/or localisation
• Vehicle manufacturing processes
• Quality control processes
• Component and/or vehicle costing
• Understanding of vehicle regulations
• vehicle evaluation experience (Preferable)
• Valid driver’s license
• High numeracy and presentation skills will be an advantage.
• Project Management skills will be an advantage.
• Good working knowledge of government gazette systems will be an advantage.
• Good understanding of Toyota Global Systems (SMS, TENIS, BBS) will be an advantage.
