    Procurement Officer

    Description

    WhereIsMyTransport is a globally distributed scale-up revolutionising the way public transport information from emerging-market megacities can be accessed and understood. Using geospatial data collection, we untangle the mysteries of dynamic public transport networks - knowledge which, when shared, improves understanding and creates a more equitable society. We’re experts in our field - that’s why we’re backed by some of the world’s most renowned mobility technology investors, including Google and Toyota Tsusho.

    We are looking for an experienced Procurement/Asset Officer to join our team and help us increase WhereIsMyTransport’s IT Department’s ability to provide effective and efficient IT service delivery across all aspects of our remote-first global business.

    This role will help to take over the management of our globally distributed assets which includes IT equipment and fixed assets ( provisioning, return & storage) and work directly with team members across the business and external service providers.

    Requirements

    The main focus of the Procurement Officer will be to partner with suppliers to meet the internal equipment needs of our global team.

    You will:

    • Partner with our IT and People Operations Team’s to facilitate equipment procurement, redistribution and storage for WhereIsMyTransport staff globally.

    • Source new suppliers both in existing locations and new locations as need be.

    • Maintain supplier relationships with existing suppliers

    • Formulating and updating all SLA’s with suppliers

    • Partner with the People Operations team to ensure delivery and storage of equipment to our global team

    • Partner with the IT Team to ensure you understand the processes and needs of our staff.

    • Continually evaluate and develop new solutions and recommendations regarding the lease of or return of equipment.

    GIS Data Processor - EMEA

    Description

Using geospatial data collection, we untangle the mysteries of dynamic public transport networks - knowledge which, when shared, improves understanding and creates a more equitable society. We’re experts in our field - that’s why we’re backed by some of the world’s most renowned mobility technology investors, including Google and Toyota Tsusho.

    We are looking for a GIS Data Processor, based in South Africa to be part of our growing team that is conducting maintenance activities and data processing. You will be trained accordingly on processing relevant public transport data.

    What will you be doing?

    • Data Technicians play the vital role of reviewing and "cleaning" geospatial and public transport data incoming from data collection projects and data maintenance programmes all around the world.

    • Data Technicians should be passionate about improving access to public transport information and the geospatial industry.

    • They are responsible for processing large amounts of data, organising and cataloguing that data, as well as doing quality control inspections.

    • Data Technicians help ensure the completeness, accuracy and quality of data, making enquiries to fill any gaps.

    • Good attention to detail is a requirement for this role, in order to ensure the team processes the most complete and accurate representation of the public transport network.

    • The work is quite repetitive with long hours spent in front of a screen, but requires remaining focused and picking up on small details throughout.

    Requirements

    You enjoy autonomy and have the insight, creativity, and communication skills needed to understand, refine, and deliver on marketing briefs. To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and experience:

    • Qualification in either Geography, Land Surveying, Cartography, Geographic Information Systems or Town Planning.

    • Strong GIS or other geospatial software experience.

    • Broad understanding of geospatial information, both technically and the industry itself.

    • Familiarity with Google Earth, Google Maps, Open Street Maps.

    • Strong spatial reasoning is a must, with a strong understanding of spatial data, including relationships and orientation between features on a map.

    • Ability to interpret geospatial maps and imagery.

    • Highly computer literate and tech savvy, comfortable using custom tools and programmes.

    • Familiarity with Office / Google Suite products (notably Excel and Google Sheets).

    • English fluency (both written and verbal) and fluent in another predominant language in EMEA, (e.g. Afrikaans, Xhosa, Zulu).

    Having these traits will help you be successful in the role:

    • Active communicator who is passionate about the geospatial industry and mobility.

    • Meticulous and very high attention to detail.

    • Critical thinker, continuously asking why and how.

    • Strong problem-solving skills and fast learner.

    • Confidence in asking questions when unsure about a process or terminology.

    • Knowledge and a good understanding of the workings and operations of privately and publicly owned modes of public transport.
