    Associate Professor/Professor in the Department of Chemistry

    Main Objectives

    • All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research), and engaging in community engagement, recognising differences in executing these responsibilities within the various departments and faculties. Academics are also expected to assume administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, faculty, and/or university levels and contribute to their profession.
    • In addition, a professor and associate professor provide academic leadership in teaching and learning, research, and community engagement and contribute towards the institution's governance. This professor's leadership contribution should be evidenced at the departmental, faculty, and institutional levels.

    The Requirements 

    Associate Professor:

    • At least a PhD in Chemistry.
    • Considerable teaching experience in organic chemistry at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
    • Experience teaching topics related to organic synthesis, green chemistry, medicinal chemistry and natural products.
    • Track record in Masters’ and Doctoral supervision to completion.
    • National and emerging international profile in the discipline.
    • Track record of research publications in organic chemistry and in attracting research funding.
    • Track record of administration, management, and leadership roles and be willing to take on the role of the Head of Department when required.

    Professor:

    • At least a PhD in Chemistry.
    • Extensive teaching experience in organic chemistry at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
    • Experience teaching topics related to organic synthesis, green chemistry, medicinal chemistry and natural products.
    • Track record in Masters’ and Doctoral supervision to completion.
    • International profile in the discipline.
    • Track record of research publications in organic chemistry and in attracting research funding.

    Housekeeper x4 (Grade 9)

    Main Objectives

    • Responsible for the supervision of staff cleaning all assigned areas within the University, falling under Housekeeping Services. This includes planning, leadership and co-ordination of cleaning services and staff within a particular residence Hall, to ensure an efficient and effective cleaning service to all residents or guests in the Hall. 
    • Also submits and follows up on all maintenance requisitions, furnishings, general upkeep of the buildings falling within the assigned area, and any other reasonable requests from the Line Manager.

    The Requirements

    Grade 12 with approximately 4 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes: -

    • Minimum of 3 years’ cleaning experience in an industrial environment where specific hygiene and cleaning practices were implemented
    • Previous administration experience within a computerized environment
    • Previous exposure, of not less than 6 months, of having worked with stock control and basic record keeping
    • Previous experience in having drafted daily schedules and related electronic correspondence
    • At least 2 years’ in a supervisory or team leader position OR be in possession of a 1-year Staff Supervision Certificate plus 1 years’ supervision experience (which doesn’t have to be obtained concurrently)

    IT Support Technician II

    Main Objectives

    • To respond to users’ needs for desktop and laptop technical support. The incumbent will be required to provide professional, efficient and accurate responses to enable the staff of the university with their IT needs.

    The Requirements

    Grade 12 with 4 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes: -

    • Evidence of working experience in an IT user support environment, troubleshooting, diagnosing and problem-solving desktop, network connectivity and user software issues
    • Evidence of working in a Windows user support environment using Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace, not just Gmail
    • Evidence of working in a team environment where escalation of open tickets occurs
    • Evidence of working with an electronic ticket tracking system for user IT support queries

    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Industrial Sociology

    Main Objectives

    Lecturer

    • A PhD in Sociology. Candidates who provide evidence of their PhD thesis being under examination will be considered.
    • Some teaching experience is required. Should be acquainted with online/ blended teaching, testing and marking or be willing to immediately acquire these skills once on the job through workshop attendance or other developmental opportunities.
    • Some experience in teaching Social Theory is required. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate ability and interest in Social Theory.
    • Ability to supervise postgraduate students is required.
    • Some evidence and experience of conducting research.
    • Some record of administration, management and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal) 

    Senior Lecturer

    • A PhD in Sociology.
    • Considerable teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels required.
    • Teaching experience in Social Theory is required.
    • Experience of research supervision up to at least Masters’ degrees to completion is required.
    • Emerging national profile in the discipline and a credible record of accredited, peer-reviewed publications.
    • Track record of administration, management and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal).

    • To offer a Fitness and Wellness Service to students and the community, with due consideration for aspects of student development and trends in the commercial fitness industry.

    The Requirements

    • A relevant B. Degree (i.e. in Sports Management/Science, Human Kinetics & Ergonomics or equivalent) plus approximately 3 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes:
    • At least 2 years’ supervision/management experience
    • Previous experience working in a gym

    • As per nGAP requirements, a minimum average of 70% pass mark is required for the Master’s degree.
