    Readvertising: Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor: Drama Department

    The Requirements

    Senior Lecturer:

    • A PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies.
    • Teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels is required.
    • Experience teaching in the following disciplinary areas: Acting (practice and theory), Contemporary Performance (practice and theory), Writing for Theatre and Performance (practice and theory).
    • Evidence of research supervision of at least Master’s degrees to completion required.
    • Evidence of practice-based research.
    • Evidence of community engagement.
    • Emerging national profile in the discipline and credible publication record in peer-reviewed publications.
    • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal).

    Associate Professor:

    • A PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies.
    • Considerable teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
    • Experience teaching in the following disciplinary areas: Acting (practice and theory), Contemporary Performance (practice and theory), Writing for Theatre and Performance (practice and theory).
    • Evidence of supervision of Masters degrees to completion is required. Supervising PhD degrees to completion is an advantage.
    • Considerable evidence of practice-based research.
    • Evidence of community engagement.
    • National and emerging international profile in the discipline and substantial publication record in peer-reviewed publications.

    Bioinformaticist Researcher

    Main Objectives

    • Research is the main focus, and teaching is not a core function. Where the researchers are on contract, raising funds for their employment, contract research shall be regarded as equivalent to more traditional forms of research.
    • In assessing the candidate’s scholarship for promotion, consideration will be given to the individual's track record. While disciplinary differences are considered, the candidate must demonstrate a standing within the discipline based on their research and student research. This could mean that the individual has demonstrated leadership, made a major contribution to research projects, and been the lead author on publications or has demonstrated a consistent individual contribution in several publications throughout

    their academic career.

    The Requirements

    • At least a PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or Computer Science, or another cognate discipline and exposure to
    • structural bioinformatics.
    • Assist with the supervision of postgraduate students.
    • Writing of research articles.
    • Experience working with sequence data relevant to human pathogens and/or experience in network analysis as part of graph theory
    • and/or tool development is highly advantageous.
    • A strong understanding of the Python programming language and Typescript.
    • Experience with Javascript component libraries (knowledge of either ReactJS or KnockoutJS).
    • An ability to build and construct APIs (such as REST and/or GraphQL) to incorporate data from Backend services into the Frontend.
    • Familiarity with backend frameworks such as Django, Flask, and/or Express.
    • Experience with Git and other version control systems.
    • Experience with application containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
    • An ability to manage relational database systems (such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQl Server, etc).
    • Experience with working with web servers (such as Apache and Nginx).
    • Good algorithmic, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, including retaining these skills in high-pressure situations.
    • Capacity for independent learning of new skills as they are required.
    • Some administrative experience, albeit in informal contexts, e.g., student or sports clubs, work experiences.

    • In addition, a Professor and Associate Professor are to provide academic leadership in teaching and learning, research, and community engagement and contribute towards the institution's governance. This leadership contribution of the Professor should be evidenced at the departmental, Faculty and Institutional levels.

    The Requirements

    Senior Researcher:

    • At least a PhD in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Geohydrology, or related disciplines.
    • Evidence of a national reputation as a leading scholar in the field of hydrological research or a related field of research.
    • Demonstrated experience in securing external research funding.
    • Research supervision of at least Master’s degrees to completion required. Supervision at the PhD level will be an added advantage.
    • A good and sustained publication record in the field of Hydrology, or Hydrogeology, Geohydrology, or a related field of research.
    • Evidence of attendance and presentation at local and preferably international conferences.
    • A record of working with policymakers and practitioners in the water sector.
    • Proven record of research administration, leadership, and people management.
    • Demonstrated participation in collaborative research
    • projects and led own research projects.

    Associate Professor Researcher:

    • At least a PhD in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Geohydrology, or related disciplines.
    • Evidence of national and emerging international reputation as a leading scholar in the field of hydrological research or a related field of research.
    • A sustained and extensive publication record in appropriate scholarly and accredited journals. With evidence of lead authorship on some of the papers.
    • A sustained track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at the Master’s and PhD level.
    • Evidence of transdisciplinary research practice and of working across multiple disciplines.
    • A sustained record of attendance and presentation in local and preferably international conferences.
    • A record of working with policymakers and practitioners in the water sector.
    • Proven record of research administration, leadership, and people management.
    • Demonstrate participation in collaborative research projects and leading own research projects.
    • A proven record of attracting external research grants from local and international funding agencies.
    • A proven record of leading large research grants and a proven ability to manage donor budgets effectively.
    • Experience in designing and leading inter-cross and transdisciplinary projects.

    Readvertising: Researcher: Centre for Biological Control (One-year contract)

    Main Objectives

    The Requirements

    • At least a PhD in Entomology with three years experience.
    • Ability to write research proposals, conduct independent research, and supervise/co-supervise students.
    • Knowledge of classical weed biological control.
    • Knowledge of weeds in high-elevation areas.
