    Bursary Advert 2024

    The Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA) invites unemployed individuals / students interested in the local government to apply for the Discretionary Grants Bursary 1 st Funding Window in support of the LGSETA Annual Performance Plan (APP) targets for 2024/2025 financial year.

    Who can apply?

    • South African students and those with permanent residence status.
    • University, University of Technology, and TVET Colleges (NATED programmes) students or Grade 12 learners who have been accepted in institutions of higher learning.
    • Students who are accepted or received provisional acceptance for a course/qualification that is in line with local government sector.
    • Priority will be given to studies that relate to the local government sector priority occupations priorities aligned to the broad service delivery areas and support functions aligned to the five broad focus areas of LGSETA.
    • Please refer to the list of qualifications that will be supported for the bursary on the LGSETA website.
    • Only students that are studying full time will be funded.

    International Scholarship Opportunity

    Are you a South African matric graduate seeking international study opportunities?

    • The Chinese Culture and International Education Exchange Centre (CCIEEC), in partnership with the Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA) and the Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (INSETA), invites matric graduates who completed matric prior to 2024 to apply for an exciting opportunity to study towards a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in China.
    • This initiative aligns with the LGSETA and INSETA Annual Performance Plan targets, contributing to South African youth skills development and employability

    Who can apply?

    To qualify for this incredible opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • South African citizens.
    • Must have completed matric prior to 2024 (no restrictions on the number of years post-matric).
    • Unemployed at the time of application.
    • Aged 18 to 25 years.
    • Willingness to commit to the full programme duration in China.
    • Ability to adapt to a new cultural and academic environment.
    • No criminal record.
    • Medically fit for international travel (HIV, TB and Syphilis negative) according to the rules of the People’s Republic of China. A medical exam will take place before departure to China.

    • Bursary Application Form

    • Certified copy of Matric Certificate not older than 6 months
    • Proof of Residence

    Scholarship will cover for the following items:

    • Tuition fees
    • Flights – annual return flights for the period of studies
    • Shared accommodation
    • Allowance
    • Visa Applications
    • Domestic Transportation in China related to studies informed by the institution only
    • Hospital Insurance

    Learners will be expected to cater for the following items and costs:

    • Passport
    • Police Clearance Certificate
    • Medical examination
    • Any other additional costs
