    Technician: Service - Mokopane

    Purpose of Role:

    • The successful candidate will carry out maintenance, repairs, inspections and overhauling on Weir Minerals equipment on customer sites and in the service centre.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.  Adhere to all Safety Health Environment (SHE) and housekeeping requirements at the branch and customer sites at all times.  Adhere to Duty of Care Policy at all times. Keep contract packs up to date.
    • Service: Carry out maintenance, repairs, inspections and overhauling on Weir Minerals equipment on customer sites and in the service centre. Installation and commissioning of pumps and other Weir Minerals products.  Demonstrate a strong technical understanding, trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Customer support: Provide a high-level of service repair work on service contracts.  Prepare and submit field service reports after completion.  Assist with training of mine personnel or Weir staff.  Offer new products and value adding solutions to contracts.
    • Business growth: Increase Services revenue by identifying new opportunities on customer sites.
    • Reporting: Submit monthly reports on consumption of spares, pump performance history and equipment performance on customer sites.

    Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: 

    • Grade 12 or N3 Certificate or equivalent
    • Qualified: Fitter / Fitter & Turner / Millwright (Verified Section 13 / 26D qualification)
    • Valid driver’s licence
    • Computer literate – Microsoft Office suite
    • 2-4 years’ experience in minerals processing plants
    • Maintenance on process equipment experience
    • Knowledge of the Mine, Health & Safety Act

    Manager: Facilities & Maint

    Business Need/Purpose of Role:

    • The Manager will manage all day-to-day maintenance and service-related duties within the Isando Plant and where applicable.  This position ensures that end users of equipment and machinery are provided with a service and ensuring that all equipment within the plants are available and well maintained. 
    • This role is also responsible for ensuring safety compliance to mitigate risks and potential loss or injury to operators and contractors working with machinery and equipment. The Manager must have extensive experience and fault-finding capabilities with various CNC machines, induction furnaces and hydraulics systems.  

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    •  Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering -GCC Factories (compulsory)
    •  4 years at Manager Level  

    Minimum Experience:  

    • 8– 10 years related experience in Maintenance
    • Managerial and Leadership experience
    • Extensive SHE and Quality knowledge and experience
    • HT (High Tension) Electrical experience
    • Lean manufacturing principles knowledge
    • Project management skills managing large Capex related projects

    Key Tasks:

    • Must have the ability to lead and manage a diverse maintenance team, to minimize downtime and production loss.
    • Complete purchasing requisitions and arrange for order placement, of related materials and equipment relevant to maintenance requirements in conjunction with the Plant Manager with the view to optimize cost and delivery.
    • Oversee the repairs and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems as well as electrical and mechanical systems, relevant to all production plants and machines, PLC or automated machines.
    • Oversee the repairs and maintenance to all plant and machinery within the facility confines.
    • Oversee the repair and maintenance to all cranes and hoist facilities relevant to production requirements
    • Ensure that all scheduled preventative maintenance is adhered to.
    • Communicate and confer with all departments and vendors regarding matters of mutual concern relative to maintenance.
    • Be able to compile and draw any relevant sketches or designs necessary regarding maintenance functions
    • Establish personal and staff objectives to satisfy company goals and plans.
    • Manage maintenance labour force into efficient work units relative to critical demand.
    • Manage any contractors working on premises and ensure that all safety requirements are adhered to.
    • Communicate the “Vision” Goals and Objectives of the organization to subordinates and create awareness and commitment through the setting of aligned objectives and monitoring performance.
    • Work according to Maintenance Procedures.
    • Assist Production Managers as required to ensure optimum efficiency of plant and equipment.
    • Ensure that all mechanical and electrical equipment is always used safely and in safe condition
    • Assist with all plant upgrades and engineering requirements for projects.
    • Execute management of change for new processes and equipment in the plant.  
    • Knowledge on repairs to AC drives, DC drives, electrical and mechanical installation motors, panels, cables, joints, basic instrumentation equipment
    • Knowledge on fault finding and repairs on cranes (electrical and mechanical)
    • Maintain quality and standards within the Isando facility.
    • Control of documentation and record keeping ( risk assessments and work permits)
    • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical repairs to hydraulic pumps, compressors, presses, mills etc.
    • Legally comply to all statutory requirements as per OHSA.
    • Do all legal registers assigned to according to OHSA e.g.:- 3 monthly inspections on equipment
    • Knowledge on servicing CNC machines, tables, turrets and chip conveyors
    • Ensure all changes and repairs are mechanically and electrically designed properly and in accordance with SANS 10142
    • Follow the SANS 10142 standards.
    • Ensure all electrical equipment are legally compliant.
    • Ensure correct critical spares are available on critical machines.
    • Setup new schedules for new & existing equipment in the plant (machinery and equipment).
    • Continuous improvements in Lean and value-added Kaizens
    • Adhere to all safety rules and regulation
    • Adhere to OHSA requirements
    • Adhere to all HSE and housekeeping / 5S requirements
    • Adhere to Duty of Care Policy at all times

    Minimum Skills/Abilities:                          

    • Technical skills
    • Reasoning ability
    • Able to work in a team
    • The ability to understand and interpret all engineering machine drawings
    • Computer literate
    • Machine fault finding
    • Aligning of machines and equipment
    • Ability to define and solve problems in a timely manner
    • Ability to work under pressure and providing regular performance feedback
