    Automated Drill Operator FTE

    Job Description:

    As an Automated Drill Operator FTE, you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Operate a remote-controlled drill using the installed technology.
    • Provide feedback on drill performance to ensure algorithms align with pit conditions and bit preferences.
    • Decide which drill bits to use for each block.
    • Conduct risk assessments and give feedback on remote-controlled drilling, focusing on day-to-day operations and standard operating procedures.
    • Perform general mining and drilling responsibilities during operations.
    • Safely declare the drilling area before issuing drilling commands
    • Analyze information on the command centre screen to identify problems and initiate solutions.
    • Instruct field operators on deviations and solutions to prevent production disruptions.
    • Identify deviations or non-conformances and implement corrective actions to achieve the production plan.
    • Inspect equipment before the shift for functionality and safety.
    • Record equipment inspections according to prescribed standards at the beginning of the shift.
    • Check fire extinguishers and lock-out devices, reporting any deviations immediately to the supervisor and dispatch.
    • Conduct visual inspections of equipment condition at the end of each shift and report deviations to the supervisor and dispatch.

    This role is in the Mining (MIN) department at a P4 (C-Lower) level reporting to Shift Supervisor.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 Certificate / N3 Technical
    • Red Permit
    • Valid Dover Certificate
    • Relevant Equipment Licenses (e.g., CAT MD6540, One Touch Drilling, Autonomous Remote Drilling)
    • Competency A (advantageous)
    • SA Driver’s Licence: Code B (Light Vehicle)

    Experience

    • 2-3 years of relevant drilling/ mining operations experience.
    • In-depth knowledge of the operational equipment systems, e.g., collision prevention and fire suppression systems.
    • Mining Operational Equipment Knowledge.
    • Understanding of mining operations.
    • Familiarity with equipment and tools.
    • Proficiency in computer usage.
    • Awareness of primary fault finding and identification.
    • Knowledge of decision-making processes for prioritising problem-solving actions.
    • Insights into pre-shift inspection protocols.
    • Awareness of traffic rules.
    • Understanding reporting procedures.
    • Knowledge of company policies and procedures.

    Job Description:

    As our Employee Relations Advisor of your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    Safety, Health, and Environment

    • Prioritize safety and health in all team interactions, leading by example to achieve zero harm and prevent fatalities.
    • Lead by example, fostering a safety-first culture.
    • Encourage open reporting of unsafe behaviours without fear of consequences.
    • Identify and address risks in the workplace using discipline-specific plans and operational risk management systems.

    • Ensure disciplinary cases and disputes are managed according to the mine relationship strategy.
    • Advise line management and HR personnel on policies, procedures, and labour legislation.
    • Maintain relations with trade unions to foster labour peace, joint problem-solving, and stability.
    • Promote a high level of competency among supervisors in handling disciplinary cases.
    • Manage diversity between recognised unions fairly and equitably.
    • Implement and ensure compliance with all agreements.
    • Deliver a high-level advisory service to the Mine and maintain the accuracy and integrity of employee relations information.
    • Analyze employee relations data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
    • Support and implement strategies, plans, and policies for effective labour relations as the operation requires.
    • Establish and maintain healthy relationships with all stakeholders.
    • Participate actively in consultation forums.
    • Coach stakeholders on relevant policies and communicate effectively.
    • Assess employment practices trends and provide appropriate advice.

    This role is in People & Organisation (P&O) NC on a band 6.10 (D1) level reporting to Section Manager Employee Relations Sishen & Kolomela

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12
    • Diploma in Labour Law / Industrial Relations / HRM (NQF6)
    • SA Driver’s License

    Technical Knowledge

    • 3-5 years experience in employee relations advisory in a mining environment.
    • Strong understanding of relevant labour laws, collective bargaining processes, and dispute resolution mechanisms within a unionised environment.
    • Knowledge of the principles and tactics involved in union negotiations, including handling grievances and managing labour disputes.
    • Familiarity with company policies, procedures, and frameworks regarding employee relations, including disciplinary codes and conflict resolution protocols.
    • Awareness of health and safety regulations and how these impact employee relations, especially within unionised work environments.
    • Understanding of collective agreements, employment contracts, and employee rights, with the ability to interpret and advise on legal terms and conditions.

    HME MT Modelling & Simulation Engineer

    Job Description:

    As HME MT Modelling & Simulation Engineeryour responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Select and allocate resources for safe work.
    • Oversee safety management system elements and comply as appropriate.

    HME Modelling & Simulation, Medium Term:

    • Modelling and Simulation Development: Develop models and simulations for heavy mobile equipment in mining operations.
    • Performance Optimisation: Optimise the performance of the heavy mobile equipment through simulation based analysis to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and increase productivity.
    • Equipment Selection and Sizing: Analyse payload capacity, speed, and power requirements to select the right equipment for specific tasks and ensure it is appropriately sized for the job.
    • Safety Analysis: Simulate various scenarios to assess risks and identify potential hazards associated with heavy equipment operation.
    • Training and Education: Develop training programs or materials based on simulation models to educate operators on best practices for using heavy mobile equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Continuous Improvement: Monitor and analyse simulation data to identify improvement areas in equipment performance, operational processes, and safety protocols.
    • Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, operations, and maintenance, to ensure that simulation models accurately reflect real-world conditions and requirements.
    • Technology Evaluation and Integration: Stay current with modelling and simulation technology advancements and evaluate their applicability to the mining operation.

    Budget and Cost Control Management:

    • Ensure compliance with the budget for the area of responsibility.
    • Evaluate and approve cost impacts in the area of responsibility and revise the budget accordingly.
    • Identify, communicate, and execute potential cost-reduction initiatives.

    This role is in Technical & Integrated Planning (T&IP) NC department on a Band 6 (D-Lower) level reporting to the Section Manager MT Planning.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Relevant National Diploma in Mining Engineering (NQF6)
    • Relevant Mining Engineering Degree or relevant Bachelor of Technology on NQF7
    • SA Drivers Licence Code B

    Technical Knowledge

    • 3-5 years of relevant modelling and simulation engineering experience in a mining environment.
    • Knowledge of mining engineering equipment analysis, design, and maintenance.
    • Understand the various rotating equipment used in mining, including crushers, pumps, motors, conveyors, and gearboxes.
    • Knowledge of maintenance strategies such as preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and reliability-centred maintenance is necessary.
    • Understand reliability engineering concepts and methodologies, including failure modes and effects analysis and root cause analysis, to improve equipment uptime, performance, and longevity.
    • Understand spare parts management principles, including inventory optimisation, procurement processes, and vendor management.
    • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques to monitor equipment performance and generate performance metrics and reports.
    • In-depth knowledge of SAP PM (Advanced) and other ERP modules applicable to the work area.
    • Proficiency in MS Office and other 3rd party interface software.

    Job Description:

    As our Operator Gr2 your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

    Safety. Health, and Environment

    • Demonstrate behaviour in line with health, safety, and environmental standards.

    • Prevent injuries or damage to assets and ensure compliance with the procedures, specifications, requirements, timeframe, and budgetary limits. 
    • Adhere to all mining regulations and protocols.

    Equipment Inspection:

    • Ensure that all required equipment (pre-shift and walk-around inspections) is inspected for functionality and safety before commencing the task according to regulations and prescribed standards to prevent damage, injury, and financial loss. 
    • Report equipment and component deviations to the supervisor to ensure defects are followed up and dealt with.

    Assisstance:

    • Assist the supervisor and co-workers as and when required.
    • Assist within own level/area of competence and according to company policies.

    Training and Compliance:

    • Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge related to the safe and efficient operation of auxiliary mining equipment. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards.

    Emergency Response:

    • Respond to emergencies, following established protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.

    Team Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with other members of the mining team, including operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel, to ensure a cohesive and productive work environment 

    This role is in the Mining (MIN) department on a band P6 reporting to the Supervisor.

    Qualifications:

    • Understand relevant equipment and component functionality of systems, e.g. Collision prevention, fire suppression system, etc.
    • Knowledge of Mine traffic rules. 
    • Radio, Loading, Lock-out and Pre-shift inspection procedures. 
    • Safety standards. 
    • Company policies and procedures.
