    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for the vehicle and load
    • Daily inspection of the vehicle and to report all faults
    • Loading and off-loading various material and equipment
    • Ensure adherence to the Road Traffic Act

    QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE

    • A minimum Grade 12 certificate
    • Valid, unendorsed Code 14 license with valid PDP

    • Experience driving vehicles with manual gearboxes
    • Operating a Mounted Grab Crane, skip or RoRo will be an advantage

    Qualified Mechanical Fitter

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conducting mechanical inspections on all production machinery
    • Compliance and adherence to the company in-house maintenance program and procedures
    • Responsible for conducting routine planned and preventative maintenance including hydraulic systems, conveyor belts, lubrication tasks, V-belts replacements, general housekeeping

    Security Officer

    Job Description

    • The Group currently has a vacancy for a Security Officer to join the Security team at the Gauteng Knights site. The successful candidate will report to the Security Manager.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • A Security Officer will be responsible for the following, but not limited to; 
    • Ensure access and egress is controlled at all SA Metal properties by completing the necessary registers and operating the gates.
    • Searching pedestrians, vehicles and personal belongings of any person(s) exiting SA Metal premises.
    • Ensure that all customers and visitors are issued with PPE when entering a SA Metal yard and that the PPE is returned after their visit
    • Ensure that any item(s) leaving the SA Metal premises is accompanied by the relevant documentation
    • Ensure that all company procedures are adhered to before granting access to staff and visitors e.g. breathalyzer tests are conducted and passed.
    • Ensure that all the assigned areas are patrolled at regular intervals.
    • Ensure that all Company policies and procedures are fully adhered to at all times.
    • Observe and report suspicious activities.
    • Keep the Incident Report Book up to date.
    • Ensure that empty and full Containers/Bins are booked in and out and secured
    • Ensure that SA Metal’s property and assets are protected
    • Ensure that all persons on SA Metal premises are protected
    • Ad-hoc tasks as per instruction from management

    QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE

    • Grade 12
    • Grade C, PSIRA registered
    • 2 to 3 years relevant experience

    Transport Controller

    Job Description

    • The SA Metal Group has an opportunity for a highly motivated, professional and organized Transport Controller to join the Transport Department.
    • The successful candidate will assist with organizing the logistics of the group to ensure smooth operation and that the requirements of the company are met.
    • The successful candidate will report to the Transport Manager.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    The successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but are not be limited to:

    • Manage day to day transport service requirements.
    • Dispatching / Debriefing drivers.
    • Daily tracking reports and updates.
    • First point of contact for Drivers.
    • Ensure highest possible customer service levels.
    • Ensure that the fleet is in a roadworthy condition and conforms to company policy in terms of branding and cleanliness.
    • Oversee truck drivers, ensure and guide adherence to procedures.
    • Liaise with management in respect of any Driver related issues that arise.
    • Ensure Occupational Health and Safety requirements are adhered to.
    • Capture incident reports and distribute them timeously to all the stake holders.
    • Capture and report faults and breakdowns on trucks timeously.
    • Completion of accessories (Cell phones and Tag) forms and issue paperwork
    • Conducting monthly Cell and accessories audits and reports.
    • Submit daily check sheets to the administrators.
    • Booking of appointments for Drivers for medicals and HR meetings.
    • Ordering and issuing PPE for existing drivers.
    • Conducting truck and equipment audits.

    QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Minimum 3 - 5 years’ fleet Controlling experience.
    • Transport Management or similar qualification will be an added advantage
    • Proven Leadership ability – must be able to lead by example.
    • Code 14 driver’s license and (PrDP) will be an advantage
    • Computer Literacy (MS Word, MS Excel and Microsoft Office)
    • Proven knowledge in working with fleet tracking systems.
    • Transport Management qualification advantageous.
    • Geographical knowledge of Gauteng and surrounding areas.
    • Ability to speak in multiple African languages is advantageous.

    Fitters Assistant

    Job Description

    • The SA Steelworks Fitters Department requires a committed, hardworking and motivated individual to join their team. The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to General functions within the Fitters Department.

    RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Changing water and hydraulic piping
    • Strip machine parts for cleaning
    • Assemble machine parts after cleaning them
    • Perform routine inspections
    • Do greasing on plant equipment as well as vehicles

    • Be able to measure equipment, read a tape measure

    UNDER SUPERVISION:

    • Assist the fitter with bigger maintenance tasks
    • Assist with Operating grinders, drilling machines safely

    • Fit bearings and grease before assembly
    • Identify different tools /spanners

    QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS

    • Grade 12 certificate
    • Certificate in Fitting and Turning
    • Previous experience in a similar environment
    • A general knowledge of hand tools and electrical tools
    • Willingness to work overtime as per operational requirements if and when required

    Security Inspector

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • The Group currently has a vacancy for a Security Inspector to join the team at the Pretoria branch. The successful candidate will provide support to the Security Department in the form of managing the Pretoria security operations. The successful candidate will report to the Security Manager. He/she will also have to:
    • Daily inspection of security equipment
    • Maintain security standards
    • Conduct weekly searches and locker searches        
    • CCTV reviews
