    IT Technician

    Description

    We are hiring!

    • We are on the lookout for an experienced IT Technician to provide support and maintenance of the WAN, LAN, network, computers, and peripherals and the resolution of all IT faults logged with the Helpdesk.

    As an IT Technician, you will be responsible for:

    • Ensures VCC site adheres to standards and policies.
    • Maintaining Safety standards in Department.
    • Timeous resolution of all IT related faults logged at the  Helpdesk.                                                                                                                                                                            
    • Investigate, analyse and provide solutions to technical problems.
    • Service and maintenance of all computers at KZN Forestry sites.
    • Assist in Maintenance of all network devices, peripherals and cabling.
    • Assist in the implementation of all new network equipment and upgrades.
    • Ensure all IT desktop equipment is efficient for required use and operational
    • Assist Implementation of Anti-virus software and other packages as required.
    • Ensure computers are patched with latest software patches to reduce vulnerabilities.
    • Ensure the team is involves in regional and global projects and that targets are met
    • Perform standby for all IT-related faults after normal business hours.  
    • Perform all tasks reasonably requested by the Senior IT Technician (Site Lead).

    What are we looking for?

    • Matric coupled with MCSE / IT Diploma
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience within a similar role / field or Internship at Sappi.
    • Must have a valid drivers license.

    Team Member Skilled I

    • We’re on the lookout for an experienced Team Member Skilled I (Mpumalanga) to actively participate in field and nursery activities for the Pure Species Breeding Programme and achieve outcomes in terms of production, quality and safety. 

    As a Team Member Skilled I, you will be responsible for:

    • Responsible for ensuring daily tasks are completed individually and as a part of a team.
    • Execute tasks according to expected outcomes in terms of production and quality.
    • Conduct daily pre-work risk assessments, checklists and WSWP.
    • Ensure that the correct PPE is used where necessary. 
    • Complete tasks only if certified and or qualified to do so.
    • Participate in weekly safety talks.
    • Maintain equipment and ensure safe storage to facilitate ready use.
    • Report all damages and losses.
    • Report all equipment service dates to avoid delays and inaccuracies.

    What are we looking for?

    • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent will be advantageous
    • NQF level 3 certificate as a Supervisor or equivalent will be advantageous
    • Up to one years’ experience in a Nursery/ Research/Forestry environment will be advantageous
    • Tree Climbing certification/experience will be advantageous
    • Must be physically fit, flexible and adaptable to work in various weather conditions, terrain types, and challenging environments.
    • Driver’s license (specifically EB/EC1/EC) will be advantageous
    • Basic computer skills will be advantageous

    Main Pump Station Operator

    Description

    • We’re on the lookout for an Main Pump Station -Operator to ensure safe and efficient operation of the Mills Effluent irrigation main pump station.

    As an Main Pump Station -Operator you will be responsible for:

    • Ensure the efficient operating of the Main pump station through daily maintenance and operational tasks.
    • Communication with Irrigation Supervisor, Superintendent Farm operations and maintenance teams.
    • Record dam levels (Hourly) on log sheet and give feedback to Effluent plant operators.
    • Controls Gypsum addition to maintain prescribed S.A.R.
    • Report any problem area and defective equipment to irrigation Supervisor/Superintendent
    • Ensure that good housekeeping at all times.
    • Ensure mill safety standards are maintained.
    • Comply with the 8 Life Saving Rules.
    • Carry out BBS observations and other safety initiatives.

    Working Conditions:

    • 12 hr shift rotation
    • Exposed to noise
    • Exposed dust- Gypsum
    • Exposed to open water bodies
    • Exposed to mill effluent

     What are we looking for?

    • Matric (Grade 12).
    • Minimum of 6 months relevant experience.
    • Speak and write clearly in English.
    • Experience in a Skid steer operation will be advantageous.
    • 1st Aid – Level 1, Gas Tester Certificate, BBS, Isolation procedure & competent effluent operator will be advantageous.
