    Educational Psychologist

    Key performance areas

    Psychoeducational assessment and psychometry       

    • Perform assessments within the scope of practice of educational psychologists.  These assessments cover areas such as cognitive, mental, social, personality, behavioral, emotional, development and neuropsychological functioning as well as in contexts such as careers, school readiness, etc.

    Intervention and prevention (individuals, groups, and families)          

    • Prevention and intervention activities with individuals, families, and groups aim to enhance, promote, and facilitate optimal learning and development and address difficulties using a variety of approaches.
    • Activities include psychopathology in relation to learning and development. This would entail attending to topics such as ADHD, Specific Learning Barriers, Autism, and trauma.
    • Engaging in individual or group therapy, bereavement counselling, trauma counselling, family therapy, parent training, career development and implementing learning support plans for learners with learning and other difficulties.

    Prevention and development (groups, systems, and communities with evidence of design, implementation, and evaluation)

    • Preventative and developmental activities with groups, systems, and communities to enhance, promote and facilitate optimal learning and development of staff, parents, and learners.
    • This may be in the form of workshops that focus on life skills such as study methods and skills, stress management, conflict management, effective communication, time management skills, parenting skills etc.

    Trans-disciplinary teamwork: collaboration, consultation, and case discussions

    • Collaboration and teamwork form an essential part of the everyday practice of educational psychology training and practice.
    • The psychologist should form part of your school’s school-based support team and is expected to engage and collaborate with a wide variety of professionals including government, private and welfare organizations.

    Case management, report writing and administration

    The case management and administrative functions will include the following:

    • Initial history-taking
    • Consultation with parents and/or families or clients
    • Consultations with trans-disciplinary team and outside professionals
    • Administration, scoring and interpretation of cognitive, emotional, and
    • educational instrument.
    • Writing assessment reports
    • Making recommendations for therapeutic and other intervention

    Professional development activities and research       

    • Maintain personal CPD points expected from the HPCSA.

    Ethics and legislation           

    • The psychologist is expected to ensure that he/she stays up to date with the ethical and legal parts of practice as an educational psychologist.

    Supervision   

    • As a practicing educational psychologist personal supervision to debrief and remain at capacity is the responsibility of the educational psychologist in line with the recommendations from the HPCSA.

    Qualifications, experience and skills

    • Master’s degree in educational psychology
    • HPCSA registered Educational Psychologist
    • 2 years teaching experience

    Bus Driver

    Key performance areas

    Learner transportation             

    • Drives a school transportation vehicle within a prescribe route(s) in accordance with time schedules.
    • Picking up and discharging students at designated stops.
    • Transports students and teacher on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed.
    • Maintains order a proper discipline of student passengers according to district policy.

    Health and Safety

    • Services buses with gas, diesel fuel, and oil; checks and when necessary, fills tires and batteries.
    • Performs periodical safety drills as required by law, completing necessary reports upon request.
    • Maintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition.
    • Attends various meetings regarding safety, first aid and training updates as required.

    Record keeping            

    • Completes periodic mileage and other reports including passenger counts.

    Qualifications, experience and skills

    • Valid Driver’s Licence (EC1 or C1 – Heavy motor vehicle up to 16000kg) and PDP.
    • Fluent in English.
    • Must be able to perform general worker duties
    • Experience in driving a school bus or similar type of position would be a recommendation.
    • Responsible for performing various tasks as required of a driver.
    • Punctuality.
