    Minimum Requirements

    • A mature and professionally registered Civil Engineer with ECSA
    • 5 Years relevant experience post registration with a broad knowledge, understanding, skills and practical experience of Civil Engineering and the built environment fields
    • Be prepared to work approximately 12 hours per month with the interns which include, one on one sessions, meetings with officials in the Directorate, facilitate training and Presentations, attending ISDG workshops and engagements etc
    • A retired person will be considered
    • Preference will be given to an applicant who resides within the George/ Garden Route Municipal area
    • Valid Code B driver's license
    • Excellent communication skills in two official languages of the Western cape
    • Be able to work with a diverse group of young graduates and Technical Managers

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Perform mentoring functions in line with the ISDG Framework
    • Implement regular Review sessions with interns
    • Implement ECSA's "ROAD TO REGISTRATION" Program
    • Identify skills gap and Develop Structured Training Plans for individual interns
    • Facilitate training interventions, transfer of skills and practical training of interns
    • Provide guidance, insight, support, and constructive feedback throughout the process
    • Provide regular feedback and report to the Management forum on the progress of the Interns
    • Teamwork with Technical Managers and Supervisors on the placement of Interns
    • Initiate new ideas and motivate Interns towards independent thinking and leadership to improve their performances
    • Tap into your professional networks to create relevant opportunities for the Interns
    • Participate in all activities/ meetings related to the interns

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Ensure administrative reporting requirements and deadlines are adhered to and information is made available to support the resolution of queries prior to processing supplier invoices.
    • Ensure that the health and safety requirements are adhered to as per the prescribed regulations.
    • Implement relevant legislation, policies, regulations, frameworks, standards, guidelines and instructions, to ensure effective and efficient systems of demand, acquisition, risk and performance review. Maintain portfolio of evidence for bid processes.
    • Collect data and analyse user requirements to compile a list of prospective suppliers. Review and compile specification and/or terms of reference and verify that sufficient funds are available.
    • Manage a logistics and inventory management system in relation to the departmental SCM System, to process a requisition, to issue an order both electronically and manually in accordance with the relevant prescripts.
    • Assess and implement the most effective and efficient acquisition method when receiving a procurement request and to negotiate effectively with suppliers prior to acceptance for the acquisition of goods and services. Ensure that the processes of obtaining bids are followed and dealt with according to Organization guidelines and procedures.

    Artisan: Electrician - George

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Trade Test Certificate as an Electrician
    • 3-5 years post-apprenticeship experience required
    • Valid Code C1 Driver's License

    • Ensure that all the pump stations are functioning at a high level of functionality and to prevent any sewerage spillage, freshwater wastage, to prevent damage to ecosystems, to prevent damage to expensive equipment and to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fresh Water to the town.
    • Ensure that all property and equipment are monitored at all times with a live tracking system to ensure that real-time messages are sent to prevent theft, damage and vandalism.
    • Ensure that the pump stations conform to advanced standards, demands and development specifications.
    • Ensure that all installations are functioning and that reported faults are attended to in order to provide a sustainable electrical supply.
    • Ensure that all municipal buildings are electrically sound and in good working order.
    • Ensure that illegal electricity connections are terminated, complaints tended to, and new installations completed as requested by the immediate Superior.
    • Ensure faults are detected and repaired and functionality restored with minimal disruption to services.
    • Connect and supply new consumers with electricity.
    • Ensure that information is recorded and shared and to ensure that problems are discussed and solved to improve service delivery.
    • Ensure that installation and safety guidelines are complied with and tasks executed in accordance with standards associated with quality workmanship.
    • Ensure activities are executed in accordance with laid down procedures and guidelines with specific claim laid on the following of safety procedures.
    • Ensure requirements are co-ordinated and instructions communicated and understood ensuring the efficient execution and completion of tasks.
    • Ensure details of activities are accurately recorded and to facilitate the processing of information related to the productivity of personnel, time and material allocation and utilization for specific assignments.
    • Ensure that vegetation is removed from electrical installation as a result of over growing or storm damage.
