    General Assistant

    Job Description

    • The purpose of this role is to assist the truck operator in collecting products from the silos and delivering them to the blasting face.
    • The individual will be responsible for the housekeeping and maintenance of the vehicle, refilling area, and other work areas. All tasks and duties must be performed in compliance with statutory, legal, client, and BME requirements and standards, without any shortcuts.

    Qualifications    

    • Grade 12 with Mathematics
    • Advantageous Requirements
    • Preferable - Code B or EC Licence
    • Preferable Competent A & Blasting assistant certificate (MQA)
    • Experience    
    • 1 year experience in blasting / mining environment
    • 1 year blasting assistant experience

    Duties    

    • Risk assessment and Safe work declarations to be done with the blaster at the place of work before entering workplace as per client requirements
    • Assist MMU with charging up blasting holes and filling up MMU with products
    • Assisting the blaster for preparing the blast / charge-up area by meeting all the statutory, legal, client and BME requirements/standards/prescriptions
    • Together with the Blaster, inspects the site to determine the target block and to plan the blasting process
    • Marks off the working area by erecting the prescribed barricading material as prescribed by the client
    • Required to map the holes to ensure that all the required holes correctly placed
    • Required to measure and check the depth of the holes, and to ensure that they are all correctly drilled within the prescribed parameters
    • In the event of detecting any deviations from prescriptions, responsible for behaving assertively and taking the necessary steps to rectify matters, e.g., by interacting and communicating to mine staff, drill contractor or the Foreman
    • On instruction from the Blaster, required to collect the correct accessories to carry out the blasting assignment successfully
    • Responsible to place all detonators and boosters at the collar of the hole to prepare for priming of the blast holes as per the blast plan issued by the mine
    • Responsible for priming the holes by carefully inserting detonators into boosters, attaching weigh-down material to the primer, and lower this primer in the hole under the supervision of the blaster
    • Any additional ad hoc duties must be completed within the specified timeframe

    Blasting Technician

    Overview    

    • Provide technical support and advice to the Operations and clients about the implementation of, training on, blasts. Provide advance technical advice on blast and mine optimisation
    • using highly technical equipment such as Drone ,3GSM and face profiling software. Effective communication skills. Proficiency in blast monitoring techniques. Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of management.Through Knowledge of blast engineering principles.

    Qualifications    

    • Grade 12
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mining/Engineering or equivalent
    • Blasting Ticket
    • Valid Driver’s license

    Experience    

    • 2 years demonstrated experience in mining / explosives environment
    • 2 years demonstrated experience in surface blasting
    • 2 years demonstrated experience in AXXIS mining technology or equivalent

    Operator (Explosives Truck)

    Overview    

    • The purpose for this position is to load holes with explosive products utilising a mixer-placer truck, according to BME standards and responsible for truck inspection and mainten

    Qualifications    

    • Grade 12 with Maths
    • Code 14 with Dangerous Goods Permit (PDP)

    Experience    

    • 2 years’ demonstrated truck driving experience.
    • 3 years’ demonstrated truck driving experience in a mining/explosive/dangerous goods environment
    • 1 year demonstrated experience in emulsion charging unit

    Duties    

    • Loading holes
    • Engage the pumping process and loading the holes according to the design specs while ensuring all prescribed SHERQ requirements are met.
    • Carry out an inspection of all the holes and measures and records them to ensure that they are drilled to the correct depth.
    • Report any out of spec holes to blaster.
    • Do calculations to determine the correct mass of product to be loaded in each hole and reports any discrepancies to with the Foreman.
    • Inspect all the pumps and settings prior to commencing with the pumping process.
    • Take a sample of the product and then analyses it to assess the product density prior to commencing the charging process.
    • Truck inspection, repairs and maintenance
    • Conduct the prescribed pre-use inspections and completion of the checklist prior to use of the truck.
    • Ensure that immediate corrections or repairs have to be brought about before driving off when any problems in the red category are detected.
    • Make necessary corrections or repairs in the event of detecting any problems in the blue category, on site if possible, otherwise to report this for correction within 24 hours.
    • Sign the checklist and ensures that it is also signed by the Foreman and the mechanic.
    • Calibrate the instrumentation on the truck plant to ensure that all metrics remain correct or after major repairs were done on the vehicle, monthly
    • Clean the vehicle on an ongoing basis so that it is presentable in the eye of the public and takes personal pride in it.
    • Complete Truck Performance administration on a daily basis
    • Captures and signs off the truck on a weekly basis.
    • Calibrates the sample required scale on a daily basis.
    • Truck Driving
    • Driving the truck safely and responsibly in all weather conditions and on all road surface conditions when picking up or delivering product to the blasting site, responsible for.
    • Ensures that all the prescribed legal paperwork is in truck (e.g., copies of manufacturing permits, CTP, TTP, as stated in work instruction).

    Senior Business Analyst

    Overview    

    • The position requires a dynamic individual to become part of the Supply Chain Omnia group – the position will report into the COE in Supply Chain. The Snr Business Analyst will be responsible for tasks related to business analysis support and reporting, business processes improvement and projects leading to systems enablement.The successful candidate must be a team player and be able to handle stressful and difficult situations.     Qualifications
