    Marketing Content Specialist

    Description

    Oxford University Press is looking for a Marketing Content Specialist that will be responsible to support Oxford University Press Southern and East Africa to achieve its strategic priorities and commercial goals. Maximizing its reputation through the creation and deployment of a well-developed communications strategy and plan covering change, employee engagement, external communications, and branding.

    Additionally, the Marketing Content Specialist will be responsible for research and special projects that influence and facilitate brand and reputation management. Marketing Content Specialist will be reporting to the Marketing Director. This post is based in Cape Town, Goodwood office.

    Principal Accountabilities:

    External Communication

    • Create and deliver a communications plan in OUPSA with a renewed focus on external communications – media, public affairs, and branding (including thought leadership and roll-out of new brand strategy), as well as continuing to build on existing internal communications work.
    • Develop and manage a Thought Leadership strategy and write and distribute relevant op-eds
    • Position OUPI as a market-leading brand in the education services domain, with media, customers, end-users, educational institutions, and educators by way of consistent external visibility.

    Internal Communication

    • Develop and manage OUPSA’s internal communication strategy and partner HR in employee engagement comms ensuring effective internal communications activities in order to ensure regular employee updates via various communication touch-points i.e. email, Yammer etc.

    Research + Customer Insight

    • Coordinate and facilitate research projects – managing external research providers where required.

    Special Projects

    • Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the completion of special projects ensuring these projects are delivered on time, on budget, and within scope
    • External special projects are defined as non-product specific campaigns and initiatives that play a role in building brand equity and salience

    Marketing

    • Ensure compliance with brand identity guidelines for any corporate and product branding for marketing collaterals, events, and other external engagements.
    • Develop and review content for website, social media channels, customers, and other stakeholders: responsible for the tone and manner of all marketing assets

    Requirements

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Degree in Marketing or anything equivalent
    • Significant years of experience writing long-form and short-form content in a marketing context
    • Knowledge of the education sector
    • Experience working in global, matrix operating environment
    • Submit 2 -3 writing samples along with the CV application

    Attributes:

    • Proactive with a creative approach to problem-solving
    • Significant corporate communications experience, including the ability to create strategic plans and regular reporting of results
    • Excellent communicator, with impeccable written and spoken English language, and an ability to write in a variety of different styles
    • Confident – will need to be equally comfortable dealing with senior management as well as colleagues at a similar or more junior levels within the business
    • Well-organized, self-motivated, and able to effectively prioritize and manage a broad and demanding workload, which requires the team to be reactive as well as proactive
    • Deep interest and commitment to education
    • The ability to analyse and interpret data to inform evidence-based decisions.
    • Experience of paid social media/digital campaigns (advantageous)
    • Globally and educationally minded, with an understanding of local education landscape (advantageous)

    Sales Consultant/Trainer- Eastern Cape

    Oxford University Press is looking for an experienced Sales Consultant/Trainer to assist with promoting and selling of OUP products and partner titles to schools, bookseller, and other customers to meet sales budgets. Reporting to the Eastern Cape Provincial Manager, the Sales Consultant/Trainer will work closely with all the various divisions within OUP. This post is based in Mthatha, Eastern Cape.

    Principal Accountabilities:

    • Achieving sales targets for front and backlist titles
    • Understanding OUP’s position in the market
    • Establishing and maintaining productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
    • Calling on schools, district education officials, key bookseller, and libraries to generate sales
    • Conducting product presentations and facilitating workshops for educators

    Requirements

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • National Diploma or Equivalent in Education, Marketing and Sales
    • Extensive sales experience
    • A thorough understanding of the South African School curriculum
    • In-depth knowledge of the education and book trade market
    • Relationship building skills
    • Computer literate with MS office, PowerPoint, word and excel
    • Valid driver's license
