    Assistant Winder

    As an Assistant Winder you will be responsible for:

    • Takes and Hands over Shift
    • Assists the Winderman in preparing the section for start-up and stopping.
    • Assists in operating the Semi-Goliath crane to load reels onto the unwind stand.
    • Assists in setting up slitter knives, checks for blunt or damaged slitter knives and checks drive drums and motors.
    • Assists in feeding the paper through the Winder.
    • Checks trim shavings to ensure that they are removed via the trim blower tube.
    • Assists by monitoring the quality and sheet appearances of paper being rewound and report any abnormalities to the Winderman.
    • Assists the Winderman by ejecting the completed set onto the lowerator.
    • Applies barcode for identification purposes and core plugs for despatching.
    • Assists with unplanned/planned maintenance shut tasks on instruction from the Foreman.
    • Prepare the core set up for the shift and insure that they are ready for use on the winder.

    What are we looking for?

    Relevant Qualifications & Experience

    • Matric and/or N3 Pulp and Paper Certificate (4 subjects)
    • Minimum (3) months experience as Process Trainee

    Maintenance Engineer Chemical

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure SHEQ Compliance: Guide the technical team to strictly follow all safety, health, environmental, and quality policies, procedures, and work instructions, including permit requirements and lockout procedures.
    • Drive Proactive Maintenance: Implement and improve predictive and preventative maintenance techniques to minimize unplanned downtime, plan maintenance schedules, and manage equipment uptime.
    • Manage Plant Reliability: Monitor equipment failures, conduct root cause analyses, and suggest process and equipment changes to prevent recurrence.
    • Oversee Projects and Compliance: Manage equipment renewal and capital projects, ensure legal and regulatory compliance, and guide plant modifications.
    • Control Budgets and Costs: Participate in annual maintenance budgeting, monitor expenses, approve requisitions, and identify cost-effective design or plant changes.
    • Utilize SAP System: Log all maintenance activities in SAP, evaluate adherence to processes, and review bills of material and management of change (MOC) temporary changes.
    • Lead Technical Team: Oversee recruitment, performance management, development, and provide on-the-job coaching to the technical/maintenance team.
    • Foster Collaboration & Reporting: Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, build customer relationships, and prepare comprehensive maintenance reports.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • BSc/BEng/BTech/Advance Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
    • Possession of a Government Certificate of Competency (Factories) is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ maintenance experience in a heavy industry environment.
    • Lime Kiln experience will be advantageous.
    • Supervisory experience is beneficial.

    Electrician

    As an Electrician, you will be responsible for:  

    • Installs, tests, connects, commissions, maintains and modifies electrical equipment, wiring and control systems.
    • Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
    • Ensure optimum plant availability by efficient diagnosis, repair and maintenance of all electrical systems and equipment.
    • Coordinates with assigned Foreman and/or other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
    • Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.
    • Inspects electrical systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating conditions, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.
    • Overhaul AC and DC motors and perform series of tests on each motor to determine the condition of the motor windings, insulation and core lamination during this process.

    What are we looking for? 

    • Matric and/or N2 (4 subjects)
    • N3 Advantageous
    • Electrical Trade test Certificate
    • 5 Years post apprentice experience (preferable)
    • Must have electrical fault-finding experience in an industrial environment

    Mechanical Technician

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and execute Capital and Renewal Projects, including planning, contractor adjudication, team coordination, and cost control.
    • Conduct technical investigations and feasibility studies, identify root causes of failures, and implement sustainable solutions.
    • Provide specialist mechanical support in fault-finding, breakdowns, and equipment performance improvements.
    • Coordinate and monitor statutory inspections (e.g., pressure vessels, structures) and ensure legal compliance.
    • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, standards (QCPs), and documentation for plant equipment.
    • Utilize systems such as SAP and MDT to support maintenance planning, cost control, and shut execution.
    • Coach and guide operational teams, and step into leadership roles as needed, including stand-by responsibilities.
    • Promote and enforce safety compliance, perform plant audits and lockout inspections, and support continuous improvement aligned with Sappi Fundamentals.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum Qualification: NQF Level 6 – Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Experience: 3–5 years of relevant practical experience in an industrial environment.
    • Advantageous: Experience in the Pulp and Paper industry.

    Finance Officer: Accounts Receivable - Maastricht

    As a Finance Officer - Accounts Receivable, you will be responsible to:

    • Supervise the credit control team, review work completed to identify and close gaps, improve processes, provide coaching, provide guidance on complex reviews and customer queries.  
    • Analyse and evaluate work performed by credit controllers for new and existing customer accounts.
    • Review credit bureau data and financial statements. Validating information before making recommendations to senior management for approval.
    • Guide the team to conduct data analysis of customer accounts daily to identify risks and ensure appropriate controls are in place.  
    • Analyse overdue accounts and ageing reports. Intervene promptly to find a resolution.
    • Identify insurance gaps and liaise with the insurer to obtain maximum coverage to reduce Sappi’s risk. 
    • Monitor and track temporary credit limits and customers that are overdue and up for next review.
    • Assess if rebate payments can be released in line with the customers payment terms.
    • Prepare and submit customer information for commercial review to senior management. 
    • Coordinate information in the preparation of bi-annual board papers that entails customer trading history, credit, and insured limits.  
    • Extract, analyse, and prepare monthly reports i.e. SSA and Global Credit Risk Report, Credit Insurance Declarations and other Adhoc credit reports.
    • Gather and coordinate information and data from SAP in preparation of budgets, forecasts and information required for quarterly and bi-annual reports.
    • Monitor the cash management process which includes cash application and cash clearing.
    • Prepare and submit weekly cash forecast for review.

    What are we looking for?

    • Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or Finance  or related equivalent
    • Credit Risk Certification would be preferred and substantial progress towards an Honours Degree. 
    • 3 or more years relevant Credit Risk and Credit Management experience
    • Supervisor / Management experience
    • Proficiency in MS Office and SAP

    Clinic Manager

    As a Clinic Manager you will be responsible for:

    • Conduct regular Health Risk Assessments (HRA) and incorporate the results in the unit Baseline Risk assessment (BRA) and the Operation Risk exposure profiles (OREP).
    • Provide input and implement the Regional Health policies, procedures and Best Operating practises to ensure compliance and efficiency.
    • Manage quality of the Health service delivery in the operating unit by setting specific objectives and driving implementation.
    • Ensure implementation and compliance to the training and education programmes for the unit team and ensure the training elements are linked to the CPD requirements.
    • Manage the unit clinic team
    • Ensure statutory requirements pertaining to the Health are understood, communicated and implemented.
    • Co-ordinate and manage audit findings related to Health matters and implement corrective action.
    • Advise and manage the unit equipment including calibration and the OMP contracts.
    • Compile the annual unit budget and manage expenditure monthly.
    • Assist in identifying and advise management of adverse health effects arising from workplace conditions and manage accordingly.
    • Management of compensation for injury on duty cases, occupational health illness and disability and claims procedure through the RMA for health related matters as well as the reporting of injuries and illness to the Dept of Health and Dept of Labour as stipulated by legislation.
    • Implementation and management of medical surveillance and biological monitoring programmes to ensure employees meet the inherent requirements of the relevant occupations and to ensure employees are not adversely affected by their work or working environment.
    • Ensure quality control of all procedures and programmes implemented.
    • Conduct regular HIV/AIDS impact surveys (e.g. Cost impact surveys, Prevalence survey, KAP studies, HCT programmes) of identified and potential HIV/AIDS risks which could materially affect the Company’s profitability and image. Develop and implement control systems to minimise risks in conjunction, where applicable, with Senior Management and external consultants.
    • Develop partnerships with Dept of Health, NGO’s and other role players to implement a comprehensive health care programme, eliminating duplication and making optimum use of relevant resources.
    • Manage the updating of health records of Sappi’s employees on the SAP system.
    • Compile unit reports, analyse data and trends and monitor implementation of remedial action.
    • Participate, communicate and assist the operating unit Health and Safety committees as well as the Risk Management forum on a monthly basis.
    • Implement education and awareness programmes based on the Health Risks identified.
    • Ensure medication management is conducted as prescribe by legislation regarding purchasing, storage of medication, diagnosing and prescribing and managing discarded stock.
    • Implement medical waste management as prescribe by legislation, negotiate competitive rates with service providers, audit the service providers to ensure cradle to grave principles is adhere to and educate all employees expose.
    • Provide primary emergency care, treat minor illnesses and refer as necessary to the OMP and co-operate with external doctors in the treatment of workers.
    • Case manage the treatment process, until maximum medical improvement and review returning employees, regarding their fitness for returning to work after illness or injury
    • Evaluate the first aid training to ensure compliance with risk, adapt training programmes and the first aid bag contents accordingly and implement regular education/scenario sessions with the First Aiders.
    • Implement prevention programmes to mitigate high claims and adverse health effects.
    • Implement a process whereby the medical aid scheme refund the unit for services rendered to the members to ensure sustainability for the health services at Sappi.
    • Manage the Incapacity Ill-health process at the operating units through training, liaising with the Insurer and the health service providers.
    • Conduct annual trend analyses, make recommendations and implement corrective actions.
    • Advice on environmental accessibility audit with corrective actions through site assessments and taking inherent requirements of the job into consideration.

    What are we looking for?

    Relevant Qualifications & Experience

    • Degree/Diploma in Nursing (3/4 years)
    • Diploma in Occupational Health, (1-year),
    • Occupational Health Certificates in Pharmacology, Audiometry, Spirometry and Emergency Care
    • Registration with South African Nursing Council
    • Proof of professional indemnity
    • Two years’ experience in the Occupational Health field

    Preferred:

    • Diploma in Diagnoses and treatment (PHC)
    • NIMART and HCT
    • Health Risk Assessment
    • Registration with South African Society for Occupational Health Nurses.
