    Instrument Technologist

    • Accountable for system and field instrument technical support to Chemicals area by applying theoretical skills and making suggestions and independently implementing solutions to optimize systems with respect to unit operations, modifications, information gathering, data accumulation, basic processing and reporting.
    • Use practical & experimental expertise to initiate & scope innovative and pro-active solutions to add value to maintenance and small projects.
    • Develop and manage long-term strategies for the Chemicals instrumentation systems.

    • BSc (Hons)/ M Tech/ B Tech (Eng)

    Mechanical Fitter Grade

    • Perform general maintenance and repairs to ensure availability and reliability of Tank Farm equipment and machinery.

    FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS
    Operational, Financial and Technical Results 

    • Perform the dismantling of equipment to check for any defects on components and make necessary replacements or repairs

    • Attend to breakdowns and make corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
    • Complete job and service cards in line with set procedures to ensure proper and accurate record keeping.
    • Conduct condition monitoring on plant equipment to ensure identification of defects well in advance and attend to them.
    • Carries out preventative maintenance on all mechanical equipment and installations according to the asset management strategic plan.
    • Maintain all tools and machinery in good working order.
    • Compliance with SHE procedures and regulations to ensure safe working environment.

    Job Requirements

    • In line with Sasol’s commitment to Employment Equity, preference will be given to suitable candidates from designated groups.

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12/N3 with Maths, Science, English
    • Qualified Artisan Fitter (NQF L4)
    • Computer literate – Ms office and SAP

    Experience

    • 3 years’ experience on mechanical maintenance in a Petro Chemical environment
    • Mechanical experience working with filter, tanks, fin fans and heat exchanger
