    Carpenter Foreman

    MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

    • Plan carpentry work to be done; lead, organize and control carpenter workshop staff on vessels and in workshop
    • Ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to; ensure safe handling of chemicals and power tools in the carpentry shop
    • Order materials timeously, as required
    • Have the ability to mentor and delegate responsibilities to other staff members, resolve conflicts and ensure smooth workflow
    • Monitor and manage projects and give feed-back to management about projects underway.

    QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Qualified carpenter with a valid trade test certificate
    • Work experience of at least 5 years in the marine industry
    • Valid driver's license and own reliable transport
    • Ability and acumen to work independently, read blueprints and understand drawings
    • Ability to take and read measuremnets
    • Ability to operate machinery, power tools and equipment
    • Knowledge of materials used in carpenter maintenance jobs, as applied on board vessels the marine / fishing environment. Includes know-how around refrigeration and sheet-metal work
    • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices
    • Attention to detail, good problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure

    Receptionist

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • Greeting and welcoming guests and providing them with a positive first impression of the organization.
    • Directing guests and answering their questions.
    • Notifying managers/employees of visitor arrivals.
    • Answering the telephone; taking and relaying messages accurately; providing information to callers
    • Providing administrative and clerical support
    • Receiving, sorting and courier mail and packages
    • Coordinating meetings and boardroom bookings
    • Updating the switchboard directory and coordinating the receptionist relieving roster
    • Complying with procedures, rules, and regulations on keeping a safe and clean reception area
    • Loading employees on Float-pays savings scheme when required, raising PO's on NAV.

    QUALIFICATIONS, WORK EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED

    • Matric with Office Administration certificate
    • Well-dressed and presentable
    • Must be able to work under pressure and be a willing and cooperative HR team member
    • Must be able to multi-task and work accurately, with good attention to detail
    • Good administrative skills, computer literacy, especially Microsoft Excel
    • Medically fit, non-smoker, and able to work the required hours with limited breaks for refreshments/lunch.
