    Executive Director: Space Engineering

    Description:

    Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Director is a member of the executive team and provides leadership in developing programmatic, organizational, and financial plans for the SANSA Space Engineering Programme in terms of (i) space missions management, (ii) space and systems engineering, (iii) programme and project management, (iv) technology and innovation management, (v) strategic products, systems, and technology acquisition, (iv) contract management, (v) industry coordination, and development.

    Key performance areas will include, but are not limited to:

    • Strategy Planning, Development, and Implementation.
    • Corporate Governance.
    • Financial Management.
    • Stakeholder Management.

    Requirements:

    Remote Sensing Scientist - Pretoria

    Description:

    Reporting to the Space Intelligence Services Manager, the Remote Sensing Scientist will be responsible for researching applications and potential remote sensing technology for image processing applications in specific focus areas. They will be required to develop value-added products as derived from satellite images.

    Requirements:

    • A minimum of 3-5 years of working experience as a Remote Sensing Scientist or researcher developing remote sensing applications for the forest, agriculture, mining, and urban landscapes.
    • High competence in processing and retrieving geophysical and biophysical parameters from satellite imagery.
    • Competence in geospatial programming and shell scripting and Python, R, or C++.
    • Experience in using open-source remote sensing and GIS software and geo-databases is required.

    Senior Payroll Practitioner

    Enterprise Risk Practitioner

    Description:

    Reporting to the Enterprise Risk Manager, the Enterprise Risk Practitioner will assist the Enterprise Risk Manager in the design, implementation, and management of the Risk Management Framework throughout SANSA. They will report on and monitor risks and mitigation factors. They will also assist in the management and reporting on anti-corruption, fraud, fruitless and wasteful, and irregular expenditure, and overseeing the Business Continuity plans across SANSA.

    • Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework and policies and procedures.
    • Annual Enterprise Risk Management Plan.
    • Organizational Risk Management.

    Requirements:
    The ideal candidate must have the following qualifications and experience:

    • A bachelor’s degree in either Risk Management/Finance/Accounting/Management or a relevant professionally recognized Risk Management qualification.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ Enterprise Risk Management experience in a similar environment.
    • Knowledge of risk management in the public sector, anti-corruption strategy, and fraud prevention measures, King reports on corporate governance as well as Business Continuity Management.

    Committee Secretary

    Description:

    Reporting to the Board Secretary, the Committee Secretary will assist the Board Secretary by performing a wide range of administrative and office support activities of the Board Secretariat.

    Key performance areas will include, but are not limited to:

    • Providing administrative, logistical, and office support.

    Product Assurance Engineer

    Description:

    Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Product Assurance Engineer will ensure that space systems under development or operation meet the reliability, maintainability, availability, and safety requirements as approved by the Programme/Project Manager.

    Key performance areas will include, but are not limited to:

    • Develop Product Assurance Programme Plans and related documents.
    • Establishment of product assurance and verification requirements for inclusion in technical specifications to ensure technical completeness and accuracy.
    • Responsible for all quality control activities during a product’s Assembly, Integration, Testing, and Verification phases.

    Space Mission Design Engineer

    Description:

    Reporting to the Engineering Managerthe Space Mission Design Engineer will ensure that rigorous analyses and studies are performed that will inform the development of space systems, through the development of requirements that will be approved by the Programme/Project Manager. 

    Key performance areas will include, but are not limited to:

    • Contribute to the definition, development, and verification of satellite system and subsystem requirements, by modelling space mission systems and establishing technical budgets and margins.
    • Lead the operationalization and maintenance of the Concurrent Design and Engineering facility.
    • Perform trade-off and feasibility studies and mission analyses of space missions using STK software and related tools by generating orbital and mission analyses to determine technical budget estimations.
    • Develop expanded capabilities and capacity in space mission design, by leading the procurement, implementation, maintenance, and training of additional modelling and simulation software.
    • Generating lessons learned and contributing to knowledge management initiatives in the directorate.

    Requirements:
    The ideal candidate must have the following qualifications and experience:

    • MSc Eng./MEng. in Electronic/Mechanical/Aeronautical or Satellite Engineering fields.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Satellite/Space Systems Engineering or related Engineering experience in design and development environments involving complex engineering programmes in the Aeronautical/Space industry.
    • Demonstratable experience in the use of software tools, specifically STK, Matlab, CATIA, or similar.
    • Experience includes significant Satellite Systems, orbital mechanics, and space mission technical knowledge, and experience in related/applicable:
    • Space mission analysis and design.
    • Space systems engineering.
    • Development of technical budgets.
