    Stock Controller – Royal Buffalo Specialist Hospital

    Description

    • A vacancy exists for a Stock Controller, reporting to the Pharmacy Manager at the facility. The successful candidate will contribute to the effective functioning and co-ordination of stock for all the wards and theatre in the hospital.

    Critical Outputs

    • Performing cycle counts and stock takes, as well as the capturing of stock takes and the investigating of variances.
    • Receiving, checking and unpacking stock whilst checking orders against invoices.
    • Assist with stock purchases and stock control, including file maintenance.
    • Capture all invoices, address supplier queries and process credits daily.
    • Issue and capture requisitions of stock to the wards and theatre daily.
    • Management of negative and dead stock.
    • Perform stock rotation and check expiry dates of all stock items systematically.
    • General administrative functions as requested.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12
    • Sound knowledge of and experience in stock control for at least 2 years in a hospital environment.
    • Ability to communicate effectively.
    • Computer proficiency.

    Admissions Clerk – Royal Buffalo Specialist Hospital

    Description

    • A vacancy has arisen for an Admissions Clerk, reporting to the Patient Administration Manager. The position’s primary responsibilities include admission of patients into hospital and the delivery of an efficient and professional service to internal and external customers.
    • The successful candidate will be goal oriented with strong customer, quality, and performance focus.

    Critical Outputs

    • Admit all patients in accordance with the company’s admission protocols
    • Carry out clinical coding in accordance with CPT and ICD requirements
    • Ensure that all data for admissions and pre-admissions is accurate and captured on hospital systems
    • Ensure that the specified targets are met • Perform daily receipting according to company policies
    • Assisting patients with enquiries and directions.
    • Answering the phone and route queries accordingly.
    • Proper handling and filing of patient records including retrieval
    • Receiving and recording of moneys received from the patients

    Requirements

    • Grade 12
    • NQF Level 4 qualification in Administration, Office Management or related will be an advantage
    • Two-year work experience in a similar environment
    • Computer literacy
    • Experience in dealing with people including managing conflict
    • Knowledge of hospital procedures and medical terminology will be an advantage.
    • Ability to work shifts (day or night)

    Unit Manager (Theatre) - Royal Buffalo Specialist Hospital

    Description

    • An employment opportunity is available for a Unit Manager (Theatre), reporting to the Nursing Services Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring and monitoring quality nursing care coordinating the multidisciplinary team in the hospital.

    Critical Outputs

    • Evaluate and monitor nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes.
    • Provide cost effective quality patient care in line with clinical governance.
    • Ensure the principles of infection prevention and all international standards precautions are adhered to.
    • Implement quality initiatives.
    • Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care.
    • Function as clinical expert in achieving patient outcomes.
    • Ensure competence of staff and students, determine and drive criteria for effective professional socialization, create an environment conducive to learning and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders.
    • Promote customer satisfaction within unit, address customer complaints, conduct quality care rounds and clinical practice audits to monitor care levels and report accordingly.
    • Identify clinical and safety risks and trends in all of the above, implement corrective action where necessary and monitor on an ongoing basis.
    • Initiate and drive unit specific best operating practice, communicate these for wider implementation and participate in hospital specific marketing initiatives.
    • Ensure staff are trained on the operation of equipment within unit and together with relevant stakeholders ensure equipment is in working order to provide a safe patient environment.
    • Build and maintain productive relationships with doctors by agreeing on a professional code of conduct, driving and monitoring effective communication regarding positive patient outcomes.

    Requirements

    • A relevant nursing qualification (B Cur Degree/ or relevant management qualification)
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
    • Post Basic Diploma in Operating Theatre
    • 5 - 8 years’ experience as Unit Manager
    • Computer proficient
