    Software Development Manager

    Description

    • EC2 Instance Placement owns the systems that decide on which physical hosts EC2 instances are placed when they are launched. The systems execute real-time optimizations across a variety of dimensions every time a new EC2 instance is launched.

    Your Role and Potential Impact

    • Lead a team of Software Development Engineers to build and run the control plane and data streaming systems that drive EC2 instance placement decisions
    • Create the vision and drive the roadmap for your team, thinking big about how data can be leveraged to improve how EC2 offers compute power to customers
    • Attract and grow hire-performing engineers for your team
    • Mentor and coach your team members and foster an inclusive engineering culture
    • Maintain a high-level of operational excellence
    • Lead and refine the team’s agile software development process

    Basic Qualifications

    • Experience in leading the definition and development of multi tier web services
    • Experience partnering with product and program management teams
    • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
    • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

    DE Annotations Auditor (German fluent), Community Feedback Annotation Team

    • We are seeking a dedicated German-speaking Auditor to join our Community Feedback Annotations team and contribute to the development and enhancement of advanced natural language processing models. As an Auditor, you will evaluate annotated datasets used to train and improve generative AI models. Your meticulous attention to detail and linguistic expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of our models.

    Key job responsibilities

    Quality Assurance

    • Review and verify annotations made by fellow annotators for consistency, accuracy, and adherence to guidelines. Provide constructive feedback to maintain annotation quality.

    Domain Expertise

    • Gain proficiency in understanding and annotating texts across various experiences and organizations, supporting the creation of specialized models.

    Data Integrity

    • Ensure accuracy and integrity of annotated data through regular quality checks. Identify and address inconsistencies, maintaining a high standard of data cleanliness.

    A day in the life

    • You will evaluate labels and annotated data for various projects across our organization. Some projects will run longer than others, but expect a variety of evaluation requests month to month.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Speak, write, and read fluently in German
    • High School or equivalent diploma
    • Experience influencing internal and external stakeholders
    • Experience in writing and editing with a strong command of grammar, punctuation and style
    • Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
    • Can work proactively and independently, meet deadlines, and deliver on projects and tasks
    • Experience handling confidential information
    • Not currently on attendance probation or any conduct warnings in the last 3 months
    • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with annotation tools and software.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Proficiency in multiple languages, both spoken and written, with a keen eye for linguistic nuances.
    • Prior experience in linguistic annotation, data labeling, or similar roles is a plus.

    • We are looking for a Project Manager to coordinate our human-in-the-loop annotation program, which is essential for developing and improving our AI models. In this role, you will manage annotation workflows, drive process improvements, and serve as the bridge between Operations, Science, Engineering, and Business teams. You will lead medium to large-scale projects, ensuring high-quality training data is delivered efficiently and that annotation processes are continuously optimized.

    Key job responsibilities

    AI Model Development & Data Quality

    • Manage projects with Annotators and Auditors to deliver quality input data for AI model fine-tuning and evaluation
    • Work with stakeholders to forecast project pipelines and align headcount needs
    • Collaborate with product and science teams to translate business needs into annotation guidelines
    • Oversee data quality and resource allocation to maintain annotation accuracy and efficiency

    Process Improvement & Data Analysis

    • Identify and implement improvements to annotation process efficiency and quality
    • Analyse data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for quality improvement
    • Drive business and operational metrics through quantitative decision-making and adoption of tools and resources
    • Perform deep dives into processes and develop scalable improvement solutions
    • Serve as a subject matter expert and referral point for peers and junior team members

    Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Management

    • Serve as the primary point of contact between Annotators, Auditors, Science, and Business teams
    • Manage medium to large-scale projects bridging Operations, Engineering, Science, and Business teams
    • Prioritize projects, manage workflows, and maintain alignment across stakeholders
    • Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical teams to ensure shared understanding of requirements and deliverables

    A day in the life

    • As a Project Manager for the Annotation team, you will orchestrate the provision of high-quality training data and coordinate AI model performance evaluation.
    • Your day involves collaborating with annotators, auditors, scientists, product managers, and engineers to manage workflows and drive improvements.
    • You will prioritize projects, optimize processes, and ensure alignment across teams — balancing hands-on data quality oversight with strategic project management to enhance annotation efficiency and support the delivery of reliable AI-powered community features.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Experience with Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
    • Experience in program or project management
    • Experience working cross-functionally with tech and non-tech teams
    • Experience defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
    • Experience leading process improvements
    • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
    • Familiarity with annotation workflows, RLHF labeling standards, or AI model evaluation processes
    • Experience with project scheduling, resource planning, and capacity forecasting
