    Key Account Manager

    Responsibilities

    Main Tasks:

    • Develop and maintain an ongoing pipeline of prospective clients within a specific vertical(s).
    • Manage and lead RFQ’s and tenders to increase win rate.
    • Represent ZA in various verticals globally.
    • Develop and guide strategy to contribute to DB Schenker South Africa vertical specific initiatives in line with regulatory and industry requirements.
    • Provide expert guidance on requirements for the company and products to be compliant with various sub sectors of certain industries.
    • Contribute effectively to the vertical strategy for ZA, with a clear plan for business development and practical actions for short-, medium-, and long-term achievement.
    • Support and guide cluster management and KAM teams in managing and developing global and regional key account opportunities successfully.
    • Collect, analyze, and communicate customer, market, and competitor information relevant to the industry/vertical.
    • Facilitate a close, customer-focused collaboration with products, P&L owners, and country sales / trade development teams.

    Client Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients.
    • Understand the clients' business objectives and logistics requirements.
    • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering solutions to optimize their supply chain.

    Account Growth:

    • Develop and execute account strategies to grow revenue and profitability of portfolio including target setting and achievement of such targets.
    • Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling DB Schenker's services.
    • Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with clients.

    Collaboration with Internal Teams:

    • Coordinate with various internal departments, including operations, sales, and customer service, to ensure client needs are met.
    • Provide guidance and support to operational teams to ensure service quality.

    Key Performance Management:

    • Develop, implement and present KPI’s on a regular basis to ensure service levels are met and exceeded.
    • Address issues or concerns promptly and effectively.
    • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement accordingly.

    Market Analysis:

    • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitors.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to clients based on market intelligence.

    Reporting:

    • Prepare regular reports and presentations for clients and internal stakeholders.
    • Track and report on account performance and progress toward goals.

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12 and / or equivalent qualification
    • Degree or Diploma would be Advantageous
    • Min 5 years' experience in a Key Account Manager position within the Supply Chain and / or Logistics Industry

    Key Account Manager Consumer and Retail

    Responsibilities

    • Deep understanding and solid experience within the Consumer and Retail vertical.
    • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification is a minimum requirement.
    • A Degree and / or National Diploma in Supply Chain/Sales and Marketing/Logistics would be advantageous.

    Pricing Controller Airfreight

    Responsibilities

    • Support sales efforts through the preparation of accurate and relevant Air Import and Export estimates for clients and requests from within the company and the follow through of estimates to closure.
    • Provide commercial insight through the evaluation of estimate results to improve company tender strike rate and competitiveness.
    • Provide administrative support and back up including the creation and maintenance of estimates and estimate tracker.
    • Develop and establish relationships through the provision of administrative support and back up to key stakeholders specifically origin offices and the various sales units and staff.
    • Generate sales leads and distribute these to the respective Sales teams / management whilst ensuring that these leads have been attended to.
    • Facilitate and address all inter-branch queries and proactively communicate with stakeholders in respect of rates / estimates.
    • Ensure that all activities in the area of responsibility are compliant with current legal and company specific regulations.

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge of clearing and forwarding industry and all its service offerings and all commercial terms (Incoterms).
    • Grade 12 Certificate is essential.
    • Relevant Diploma with a high level of numerical ability. 5 years’ experience in an operational capacity in International Freight.

    • Assistance on global ocean freight tenders.
    • This includes leading the tender process, analysis of requirements, gathering and compiling input from all stake holders, analysis of solutions and pricing, compilation and on time submission of tenders.
    • Ensuring the solution and pricing meet the customer’s specific requirements as well as operational capabilities.

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge of clearing and forwarding industry and all its service offerings and all commercial terms (Incoterms).

    Head of Land Transport

     Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • To identify and Initiate contact with potential new customers with a view to securing new Land Transport business for long term (both LTL & FTL).
    • Study the market and analyze developments to make required changes in strategy as and when required.
    • Increase our market share in Land Transport sector and establish Schenker as a recognized brand in Land Transportation offering solutions for varied movement types associated.
    • Handle RFI’s & RFQ’s   and respond within deadline dates stipulated.
    • Offer solution and rates based on sub-contractors, where applicable, with 25% mark up over and above sub-contractors’ rates.
    • Arrange Land Transport Contracts, in the event of Business award confirmation.
    • Share & follow Transport contract timelines and schedules with Schenker LT team based on Contractual agreement and approved rates.
    • Connect Client/Customer with Schenker LT team for Further Business/Operation alignment including creation and implementation of SOP’s.
    • Ensure proper process, truck/driver arrangements (including validity of driver license/truck registration/truck worthiness/load capacity/lashing/cleanliness), documentation, reporting schedules, POD submissions are fulfilled and maintained (to levels and timelines in case of contractual agreements).
    • Perform KPI evaluation and implement remedial measures, if KPI’s are divergent.
    • Ensure LT team maintains proper record of files/supporting’s/filing system for easy retrieval.
    • Ensure timely invoicing / timely invoice dispatch / timely finance related reconciliation is done.
    • Ensure Schenker Quality / Health & Safety / Environment guidelines are read periodically, understood and implemented in day-to-day work routines.  
    • Ensure Schenker Ethics policy is understood and practiced.

    Customer Relationship:

    • To build up a relationship with key clients both existing and potential.
    • Ensure internal coordination with LT team members and also where applicable with Managers of other departments (keep them advised of specific client requirements and ensure communication of the same from time to time with the objective of providing second to none service to the customers).
    • Manage all QBR/MBR.

    Credit Control:

    • Ensure all outstanding payments are collected within approved credit limits.
    • Coordinate disputed payments with Finance and Operations for their resolution and collection.
    • Follow the credit application procedure and communicate Schenker’s credit policy to customers.

    Internal coordination:

    • Build up relationship with internal Schenker departments and create synergies to ensure customer requirements are delivered/met as per agreement.
    • Coordinate with overseas office on specific business or client requirements.
    • Conduct weekly meetings with LT team.
    • Provide/Receive necessary monthly reports to Finance / Quality teams.

    Monthly Reporting:

    • Provide monthly reports of KPI maintained.
    • Take up any specific tasks given relating to customer operations from time to time.

    Drive Compliance:

    • Compliance is important in Land transportation, as carelessness in following regulations may compromise safety. Head of Land Transport must establish compliance of all services with customs and road transport regulations. In addition, must address safety concerns and customer complaints promptly.

    Recruit and Train Employees:

    • Head of Land Transport must work closely with P&O to attract and recruit employees within the BU. After hiring, must provide training, development and support employees’ career path for development.
    •  Ensure employees’ certification in the industry are stay updated with the industry

    Knowledge: 

    • Head of Land Transport is proactive and agile, taking swift action to effectively execute projects. Drawing from long-term experience in the Land transportation industry, take charge with a vision in mind while using problem-solving skills to develop solutions.

    • Leadership: set the direction for the entire department, providing guidance and mentorship to employees, and taking responsibility for overall performance.
    • Transportation expertise: experts in their field, knowledgeable about industry trends, supply chain processes, best practices, and compliance requirements.
    • Organizational: drive projects from start to finish and assign responsibilities, keeping track of several processes at once and making sure that deadlines are met.
    • Communication: must be excellent, well-rounded communicators adept at making presentations, facilitating meetings, negotiating contracts, and holding one-on-one conversations
    • Data analysis: to identify project strengths and weaknesses and should be able to synthesize data from multiple sources and distill their findings into action steps for improvement.

    Qualifications

    • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Management, Transport, Supply Chain, or a related field. 
    • Minimum of ten years of experience in a management position, preferably with a specialization in land transportation.
    • A graduate degree - MBA is an advantage.
