    Water Distribution Operator

    Key Responsibility Areas

    • Performs leak investigation duties on the water reticulation system to prevent breakdowns and water loss.
    • Undertakes supervisory duties in order that employee’s function efficiently and effectively.
    • Undertakes sundry reticulation system duties and attends to complaints from citizens regarding dirty or bad tasting water.
    • Undertakes additional duties, such as taking regular dip tests on reservoirs when the telemetry system is down.
    • Assesses emergency situations and calls out Superintendent or Technician as necessary.
    • Isolates trunk mains for bursts and planned work under the supervision of the Superintendent or Water System Controller.
    • Undertakes driving duties and ensures proper care of the vehicles.

    Essential Requirements

    • Grade 10
    • Valid motor vehicle driving license
    • 2 years relevant experience in plumbing or water or maintenance of water reticulations.

    Preferred Requirements

    • Trade Tested Artisan (Plumber).
    • 3 years relevant experience in plumbing or water or maintenance of water reticulations

    Manager (Education and Waste Minimisation)

    Key Responsibility Areas

    • Provide an effective Waste Management Education service to improve Public Waste Management Practices, Planning and Implementing Projects/Programmes.
    • Undertaking Contracts and Administration and Management.
    • Ensure Cleansing and Solid Waste representation in special events by managing, facilitating, participation, providing resources and staff to promote such events as clean events.
    • Conduct and manage taking programmes for internal staff and external customers to empower and share information.
    • Undertaking the gathering and analysis of information for research purposes.
    • Provide a management administrative support service.
    • Raise project related financing for the association of clean communities trust and administer the expenditure of these on related projects within the metro. 

    Essential Requirements

    • Diploma (NQF Level 6) in one of the following fields:
    • Environmental, Public Relations, Communication, Social Science, Education or any other related and equivalent qualification.
    • Valid motor vehicle driving license
    • 5 Years relevant experience of which 2 years must be at a supervisory level

    Preferred Requirements

    • Degree (NQF Level 7) in one of the following fields: Environmental, Public Relations, Communication, Social Science, Education
    • or any other related and equivalent qualification.
    • 6 years relevant experience of which 3 years must be at a supervisory level.

    Administrator (Townships)

    Key Responsibility Areas

    • Monitors income and expenditure on operating budgets.
    • Attends to enquiries/complaints from different sources.
    • Responsible for providing a mini switchboard service.
    • Attends to incoming and outgoing correspondence.
    • Provides a secretarial service to the section.
    • Undertakes data capturing of information.
    • Provides a general admin service to the section.

    Essential Requirements

    • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent and an Administrative Certificate.

    • 3 years relevant experience
    • Computer Literacy.

    Preferred Requirements

    • Diploma (NQF Level 6) in the Administration field or equivalent.
    • 4 years relevant experience.

    Lieutenant Colonel

    Key Responsibility Areas

    • Responsible for conducting on street inspections, regular briefings and checking all reports, records and other documentation.
    • Issues general and daily instructions to Sergeants and Constables.
    • Ensures that all vehicles, plant equipment, machinery, firearms, ammunition used by subordinate personnel are maintained in a good state.
    • Periodically parading and inspecting constables and their equipment prior to their commencement of duty.
    • Develops and maintains training personnel as a team.
    • Co-ordinates and controls all research and planning operations activities in the various disciplines i.e. traffic law enforcement, crime prevention, quality control etc.
    • Co-ordinates and controls the functions regarding the promotion of good public relations between Metro Police and the Communities.
    • Co-ordinates and controls bus ranks/routes, taxi/minibus taxi ranks, municipal taxi drivers licences driving school, summons and investigation functions.
    • Responsible for controlling all communication functions such as checking the incident  register in the control room, ensuring that incident procedures are promptly updated.
    • Co-ordinates and controls all specific crime prevention including street crime law  enforcement activities in all areas.
    • Co-ordinates and controls specific speed timing and traffic light enforcement functions.

    Essential Requirements

    • Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Policing or related equivalent qualification.
    • Registered as a Traffic Officer.
    • Valid motor vehicle driving license.
    • Firearm competency
    • 6 years relevant experience of which 3 must be as a Sergeant.
    • Computer Literacy.

    Artisan (Plumber) (Level Ii)

    Key Responsibility Areas

    • Interprets and co-ordinates specific pre-work/site requirements with regards to installation, repairs and, planned and predictive maintenance sequences and guides the activities of personnel.
    • Completes internal transactional documentation (e.g. time sheets, log sheet, progress and productivity field report, etc.) and related forms (Vehicle checklist).
    • Co-ordinates activities/ sequences associated with trouble shooting/ fault finding process to identify reasons for control valve failure in the supply of water.
    • Co-ordinates activities and sequences associated with maintaining the functionality of water systems and components.

    Essential Requirements

    • Trade Tested Artisan (Plumber).
    • Basic First Aid and Basic Safety certificate.
    • Valid motor vehicle driving license (Code C1).
    • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
    • 3 years relevant post qualification experience.

    Preferred Requirements

    • 4 years relevant post qualification experience.
