    Starke Ayres:Trolley Assistant (Fixed,Rosebank,Cape Town)

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Collect trolleys from designated areas within the parking lot or shopping facility and return them to the appropriate storage locations.
    • Ensure trolleys are available and accessible for customer use.
    • Inspect trolleys regularly for damage or wear, ensuring that all are in good working condition.
    • Report any faulty or damaged trolleys for repair or replacement.
    • Assist customers with finding or returning trolleys, ensuring they have a convenient and pleasant shopping experience.
    • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently.
    • Support the management team in any additional duties as needed.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12 (essential if over the age of 16)
    • Must be available to work a minimum of 3 weekends per month
    • Must be available to work on public holidays
    • Must have reliable transport and reside close to Rosebank Branch

    Starke Ayres: Bookkeeper

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Pays supplier invoices within agreed terms.
    • Completes monthly bank reconciliations by the 3rd working day.
    • Captures expenses and sales accurately on monthly GP and sales reports.
    • Maintains a well-organized, up-to-date accounting filing system.
    • Reconciles and balances petty cash weekly with complete documentation.
    • Submits accurate monthly financial reports to the Accountant and Garden Centre Manager.
    • Verifies daily cash-ups and ensures timely banking.
    • Issues and reconciles cash floats for till points.
    • Monitors and reports on till discrepancies (e.g., discounts, voids, credit notes, surpluses, deficits).
    • Notifies the Garden Centre Manager of banking discrepancies within 24 hours.
    • Ensures all cashiers follow correct transaction and cash handling procedures.
    • Maintains a secure, orderly cash office environment.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Education:

    • Grade 12 National Senior Certificate (essential) 
    • Bachelor’s degree finance or Bookkeeping diploma (preferential)

    Experience:

    • 5 – 10 years’ experience in as a bookkeeper

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Assisting management with operational staff by:

    • Assisting with the recruitment, selection and orientation of new staff within operations
    • Managing work performance of operational staff
    • Conducting weekly / bi weekly meetings with operational staff
    • Recommending training needs within operations department
    • Coaching, counselling and disciplining as required within operations

    • Implementing of operational policies and procedures, making relevant recommendations
    • Assisting in the maintenance of operations assets
    • Ensuring that vehicle inspections are conducted
    • Ensuring branch housekeeping is maintained at all times, by conducting regular inspections

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Matric (Grd 12)
    • Certificate in Road Transportation (preferred)
    • Clear understanding of the transport ordinances and loading requirements
    • In depth understanding of freight operational processes
    • Relevant transport / freight operational experience
    • Relevant Supervisory experience
    • Advanced understanding of Freightware or similar management system
    • Basic understanding of: BCEA, IR, EE, SD, Occupational Health & Safety
    • Good geographical knowledge and understanding
    • Computer operation – e-mail, excel, MS word
    • Ability to communicate on all levels – both internally and externally
    • Fluent in English (read, write, speak)
    • Ability to compile own written communication
    • Excellent managerial and interactive skills
    • Numerical computation and analysis
    • A valid unendorsed driver’s license code 08 (preferred code 10)
