Key performance areas:

• Responsible for supporting and ensuring the availability of the database environments of TFG’s most critical applications
• Planning and prioritising DBA tasks
• Product installations, configuration and upgrades
• Monitoring databases for performance tuning and capacity management purposes
• Database backup and restore activities
• Assisting with regular DRP tests
• Assisting application developers with database design, SQL tuning and using databases optimally
• Documenting all databases and keeping documentation up-to-date
• Regular database health checks
• Problem determination and resolution
• Analysing and archiving database error logs
• Liasing with Microsoft Support, primarily to resolve problems
• Keeping abreast of new technologies and product versions
• Dissemination of information to colleagues and management as and when required
• Regular reporting to management against SLAs
• Defining and maintaining database security structures
• Participating as a member of our after-hours standby team
• Performing database maintenance after-hours and on weekends as and when required

To qualify for this position you will need:

• Relevant 3 year tertiary qualification.
• 3-5 years production SQL Database Administrator experience
• Project management skills and experience
• Database performance optimisation skills
• Good analytical ability and attention to detail
• Able to work in a highly pressurized environment
• A willingness to learn
• A customer service orientation
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team
• An understanding of a Microsoft server environment.

The following qualifications/skills/knowledge would be advantageous:

• A retail industry exposure is preferable
• SQL Server 2016 experience

Your key areas of responsibility will include:

• Business analysis activities within a variety of significant segments of the organisation, where the advice given and decisions made will have a measurable impact on the profitability or effectiveness of the organisation.
• Establishing the contribution that technology can make to meeting business objectives.
• Defining strategies, validating and justifying business needs, conducting feasibility studies, producing high-level and detailed business requirements and business models and guiding business case development where relevant.
• Managing process change, leading process redesign workshops, modelling and simulating business processes, testing and executing processes to ensure that the right results are achieved.
• Examining processes holistically to understand the impact of changing them on people, strategy, systems and general business operations.
• Identifying, documenting and analysing business rules that govern the implementation of business processes.
• Educating business users responsible for managing and operating business processes.
• Monitoring, measuring and providing feedback on process performance to ensure consistent value delivery.
• Applying your knowledge of business process modelling notations (e.g. BPMN) to documenting processes.
• Where relevant, guiding senior management and business users responsible for managing and operating business processes towards accepting change.
• Actively guiding, coaching and mentoring other business analysts where relevant.

To qualify for this position you will need:

• A relevant tertiary education
• 5-8 years of proven Business Process Analysis experience within a corporate environment
• Proven proficiency in managing medium to large, complex projects
• Proven ability to run workshops and meetings
• Sound business acumen with a strong focus on delivering excellent customer service
• Clear leadership and the ability to influence and persuade
• A high level of credibility
• The ability to absorb complex information quickly
• The ability to communicate effectively at all levels to both technical and non-technical audiences
• The ability to assess and evaluate risk
• The ability to act independently when faced with complex situations
