    Clinician Doctor Advisor

    Job description

    Job Purpose

    Do you enjoy working in a community? Are you a doctor that is passionate about HIV Management in South African rural settings? We are looking for a doctor to provide direct clinical services and advisors, coaches and mentors facility level Department of Health management and staff in line with policy and/or evolving DOH needs.

    You Will

    • Drive our 90-90-90 project HIV and TB agendas for adults and children at facility and site level, ensuring that patients are being tested for HIV and TB, they are captured on the care system, treated with antiretroviral and TB treatments, and virally suppressed and cured of TB in line with meeting the 90-90-90 project targets.
    • Ensuring health systems strengthening models, initiatives, protocols and guidelines are being implemented by target facilities and that facility staff are continuously identifying and addressing clinical and non-clinical issues in order to reach 90-90-90 targets.
    • Support the implementation of strategic and tactical interventions at facility level through providing direct HIV & TB related clinical services to patients and clients as well as facilitating, on-site coaching and mentoring.
    • Ensuring facility functionality in terms of ideal clinic, ICDM/CSM and National core standards are fulfilled

    Qualifications And Experience Required

    • Medical degree essential, post graduate HIV/AIDS management qualification.
    • Registered with HPCSA/independent practitioner.
    • 5+ years of clinical HIV/AIDS experience including the provision of art
    • Must be willing to work in rural settings

    Lay Counsellor

    Job description

    Role Description

    The Lay Counsellor’s primary responsibility is to support the implementation of strategic and tactical interventions at Department of Health (DoH) facilities and sites through the provision of direct HIV & TB related clinical services to patients and clients, namely pre.post and ongoing HIV/AIDS individual and group counselling, HIV Testing Services, referring HIV-positive persons and ensuring linkage to care .She / he will drive the 90-90-90 HIV and TB agendas for adults and children by ensuring that the NDOH HTS protocol and guideline are being implemented by target facilities. The Lay Counsellor will work in conjunction with a registered nurse/ professional nurse on site.

    Key Measurable Outputs Of The Position Include

    • Patient care 90-90-90 targets ( testing, sustained chronic treatment and diagnostic treatments)

    Qualifications And Experience Required

    • Senior Certificate (Grade12) or equivalent
    • Technical Knowledge And Skills Required

    General (pre-requisite)

    • Experience and knowledge of public health facilities and HIV programmes
    • Basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS and TB
    • Committed and motivated to preventing HIV and supporting people living with HIV
    • Non- judgmental, trustworthy and empathic
    • Involvement in some aspect of community work will be an added advantage
    • Experience with sex worker community and/or hard to reach populations preferred
    • Strong understanding of patient confidentiality laws
    • Computer literacy preferred
    • Ability to handle stress and manage own emotions and others
    • Keep confidentiality and have deep levels of integrity with patients information and within the working environment of Broadreach brand

    Organisation (orientation/probation)

    • Understanding of HIV and TB clinical and treatment guidelines and protocols for adults and children
    • Understanding the 90-90-90 HIV and TB strategies for adults and children
    • Knowledge and use of BR tools

    Role (foundational knowledge)

    • Understanding of healthcare systems in resource-limited settings
    • Understanding the local political landscape involved in Facility, Sub-district and District level
    • Knowledge of diagnoses, clinical management, and on-going antiretroviral use in HIV and TB exposed and infected children and adults
    • Knowledge of principals and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
    • Knowledge of different counselling and training models for vulnerable diseases.
    • Need to know when to refer patients and have knowledge of the different referral systems
