    Senior Buyer

    Job description

    Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position in the Materials: Procurement Department, based at Adam Tas in Stellenbosch. The successful incumbent will report to the Materials Manager.

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

    STRATEGIC/FINANCIAL RESULTS (Financial Perspective)

    • Ensure purchasing function is cost effective and achieves purchasing objectives within the divisional targets:
    • Actively manage and improve on dry goods stock holding working capital while still delivering a high quality service of material availability to the packaging lines
    • Drive and Implement Focused Improvement Projects
    • Ensure financial controls are in place as required by company internal control (ICC)

    OPERATIONAL RESULTS (Internal Perspective)

    • To ensure an effective and efficient running of purchasing function:
    • Ensure effective procurement of dry goods according to production plans, forecasts, and the use of MRP
    • Effective supplier management through monthly supplier meetings and OTIF scores
    • Ensure effective procurement and maintain good customer relationships - drive preferential procurement opportunities
    • Ensure delivery of the correct materials/services on time and in full

    RELATIONSHIP RESULTS (Customer/Stakeholder Relationships)

    • Build effective relationships with external and internal stakeholders:
    • Build effective and trusting relationships with peers
    • Collaboration with marketing and execution of NPD projects
    • Build effective working relationships with customers/suppliers to achieve results

    INNOVATION & IMPROVEMENT RESULTS (Learning and Growth):

    Implement new ideas and improve methods, systems and work processes that will lead to higher quality, or reduced cost
    Entrench a coaching culture using principles of High Performance Coaching

    Effective Leadership

    To ensure competent and motivated people in the purchasing team consisting of MRP and MRO buyers:

    • Living the Distell Values
    • Ensure that each member of the procurement team has a detailed, actively managed development plan
    • Develop and implement a skills-matrix for the procurement team to support a multi-skilled environment
    • Develop a succession plan for the procurement team

    The successful candidate must have the following qualification, skills and experience:

    • A relevant tertiary qualification in Procurement Management
    • Minimum of 2 - 3 years purchasing experience
    • Computer literate in Ms Word, Excel, Outlook and SAP
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills are essential
    • Proven meticulous attention to detail
    • Ability to be assertive when necessary
    • Effective time management skills
    • Ability to work independently and under pressure
    • Ability to take ownership for the completion of tasks
    • People management skills are essential

    General Worker (Packaging)

    Job description

    Applications are invited for the above mentioned position to be based in Supply Chain, Springs within the Production department

    The successful candidates will report to the respective Shift Team Leader

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

    • Cleaning of floors, machines, conveyors and areas in and around production lines
    • Supply production machines with Dry Goods from Dry Goods area.
    • Perform reworks on non-conforming products
    • Adhere to safe working procedures, practices and safety regulations at all times
    • Actively involved in all Mini business activities

    The Successful Candidate Must Have The Following Experience/skills

    • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
    • Experience as a general worker in a Production environment.
    • Ability to work under pressure
    • Must be physically healthy and strong to perform strenuous duties from time to time.
    • Ability to initiate action spontaneously without being urged on to do so
    • Must be willing to work shifts, including night shift, overtime and weekends if required
    • Ability to work within a team is essential
    • To reflect good corporate governance towards colleagues, supervisors and company values.

    Artisan

    Job description

    Applications are invited for the above mentioned position to be based in the Central Workshop Department, Technical Services at Adam Tas, Stellenbosch. The successful applicant will report to the Parts Manufacturing Manager.

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

    • Accurate manufacturing and assembling of machine parts, utilizing engineering drawings;
    • Identify and report errors and suggest improvements;
    • Inspect completed work to ensure correct quality;
    • Make a positive contribution towards maintaining a content, safe and tidy environment;
    • Carry out any other reasonable duties required to complete a task;
    • Willingness to work overtime / after hours and/or on weekends when required
    • Turning, milling, welding and fitting for fabrication of components

    The successful candidate must preferably have the following experience / skills:

    • Extensive work experience in a general machining workshop;
    • CNC programing experience will be advantageous;
    • Work experience within an FMCG environment will be advantageous;
    • Good knowledge of engineering standards and ability to read engineering drawings or layouts;
    • Ability to work with precise engineering measurements and tolerances;
    • Good knowledge of different types of steel and their relevant application;
    • Ability to work independently, identify and solve problems and make relevant decisions;
    • Ability to work under pressure;
    • Be self-motivated and action driven team player.

    The successful candidate must at least be in possession of the following qualification:

    NTC 3 / N3 fitting and turning qualification and a mechanical related trade test certificate

    Admin Controller (Packaging)

    Job description

    Applications are invited for the above mentioned position to be based in Secondary Production , Springs

    This person will report to the Production Manager

    You Will Be Required To Do The Following

    • Ensuring effective admin housekeeping
    • Control ISO Documentation & Process
    • Maintain production data and records
    • Manage people from Workforce
    • Monitor production orders and variances
    • Preparing and reporting on budget expenditures
    • Compile weekly and monthly reports on Production stats
    • Control buying process of certain items.
    • Liaise with Suppliers of consumables

    The Successful Candidate Must Have The Following Experience/skills

    • Computer literate with MS Excel (advance), MS Office and knowledge of SAP Production Environment
    • Strong numerical aptitude.
    • Matric / Grade12 qualification or relevant tertiary qualification
    • Good communication skills
    • Exceptional administration skills
