Job description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

• Matric (Grade 12) with Maths and Science. Tertiary diploma in materials testing advantageous

• SCT Level 4 (part 1) certificate

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a cement or concrete laboratory.
• People leadership skills.
• Working knowledge of concrete & cement requirements related to civil structure.

BEHAVIORAL ATTRIBUTES, COMPETENCIES AND OTHER:

• Knowledge of construction industries as well as cement, concrete and testing.
• Knowledge in C & C laboratory instrumentation trouble shooting and problem solving.
• Computer literacy
• Valid driver’s license
• Able to work with little direct supervision

DUTIES:

• Ensured routine and specialised tests are conducted, report accurate, reliable and timeous test results.
• Recorded the results of analyses on appropriate information systems and communicated results where required.
• Assisted to maintain a quality system.
• Stewarded laboratory equipment.
• Ensured maintenance and calibration schedules followed.
• Planned milestones/ schedules met.
• Assist in the training of testers and assistants.
• Following safety procedures.
• Reduced risk

A National Diploma, B. Tech or BSc in Chemistry Degree and/or civil engineering diploma

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in materials testing and or concrete technology field.
• People leadership skills.
• Working knowledge of concrete & cement requirements related to civil structures

DUTIES

• Ensured routine and specialised tests are conducted, report accurate, reliable and timeous test results.
• Recorded the results of analyses on appropriate information systems and communicated results where required.
• Assisted to maintain quality system and calibrate equipment to ensure accreditation.
• Conducted validations according to quality system requirements
• Assisted to implement new or specialized tests.
• Monitored Inter-laboratory test results.
• Stewarded laboratory equipment.
• Ensured maintenance and calibration schedules followed.
• Planned milestones/ schedules met.
• Where required, participate in problem solving as a functional expert.
• Assist in the training of testers and assistants.
• Take part in the development of training material, specifically material testing field.
• Following safety procedures.
• Reduced risk

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

• Knowledge of cement and construction industries.
• Knowledge in cement, concrete and material testing.
• Knowledge and interest in C & C laboratory instrumentation trouble shooting and problem solving.
• Computer literacy
