    Bookkeeper/Accountant (Accounting / VAT / Bookkeeping)

    Job Description: 

    Mining Company is looking for an Accountant with little experience to join their team in Johannesburg
     
    Responsibilities:

    • Bringing SARS PAYE Efiling and payments up to date and the monthly maintenance thereof thereafter
    • Bringing SARS VAT Efiling and payments up to date and the monthly maintenance thereof thereafter
    • Filing of provisional tax returns on e-filing
    • Filing of annual income tax returns on e-filing
    • Updating all CPIC records
    • Daily capturing of invoices and payments into MYOB accounting software.
    • Monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts.
    • Monthly reconciliation of GL (general ledger) accounts as assigned by the Financial Manager.
    • Monthly reconciliation of Creditors accounts.
    • Assist Financial Manager with Ad Hoc duties.

    Requirements: Qualification and Skill

    • Bachelor of Commerce degree minimum
    • Two or three Years of experience in accounting or bookkeeper position

    ESG Analyst (Social Impact Analyst / Private Equity)

    Responsibilities:
     
      Support Social Impact Programmes

    • To support the Funds and portfolio companies with the development and implementation of small-scale farmer out-grower programmes.
    • To seek NGO support for the programmes.
    • To monitor and report on the success of these programmes through conducting surveys.
    • To establish and design monitoring programs that will produce reliable statistical information to demonstrate changes relating to the impact program.
    • To establish benchmarks to create meaningful comparisons against these benchmarks.
    • To produce statistical analyses of the data and to develop data-based evidence of impact over time.
    • This may include managing Third Party advisors or data gatherers.

    Implementation of ESG Investment Codes

    • To oversee the implementation of the company’s Responsible Investment Code (RIC) and IFC performance standards (the “ESG Investment Codes”) where applicable across portfolio companies.

      Provide Portfolio Company Support

    • Support portfolio companies to develop appropriate Social and Environmental Management Systems (SEMS) including agreed ESG Action Plans.
    • Support portfolio companies in producing quarterly and annual reports on progress against their ESG Action Plans.
    • Provide ESG training as required at the portfolio companies.
    • Support portfolio company engagement with communities.
    • This may include managing Third Party ESG Advisors.

      Due Diligence

    • ESG due diligence on target acquisitions to assess relative compliance with the ESG Investment Codes and to draw up Action Plans aimed at achieving compliance over a reasonable timeframe.

      Reporting

    • Report on visits to portfolio companies
    • Assist with a range of reporting requirements for the Investment Committee, investors, OPIC and MIGA as necessary.

     
      Investor, OPIC and MIGA Interaction

    • To participate in meetings with Investors, OPIC and MIGA to present and discuss ESG matters as required.
    • To accompany Investors, OPIC and MIGA on due diligence or monitoring visits to portfolio companies as required.

    Requirements: Qualification and Skill

    •  Relevant ESG postgraduate qualifications
    • At least 5 years’ experience as an ESG analyst
    • Experience on the ‘social’ aspects of ESG e.g. resettlement, community liaison, stakeholder engagement reporting, monitoring social impact, conducting surveys
    • Working knowledge of the International Finance Corporation Performance Standards
    • South African national
    • Highly numerate and comfortable working with statistics
    • Statistical training is preferred
    • Comfortable to travel across Africa and Europe (on a frequent basis)
    • Comfortable to work alone
    • Good written, analytical and presentation skills
    • Language: Good English. Other useful languages: Afrikaans, Portuguese, Swahili, Bemba etc.

    Job Description:
    The successful incumbent’s role will be to provide administrative support and perform an efficient administrative function for the HR interventions in the Babcock Africa Group to ensure effective and up to date reporting and analysis, thereby contributing to the development of a competent workforce
     
    Responsibilities:

    • Attend to and advise Line Managers on all HR matters arising, with particular reference to relationships, wellbeing, engagement, behaviour and performance, while assisting Line Managers in solving these
    • Provide day-to-day on and off the job advice and support to employees and Line Managers on Company policies, practices and procedures while ensuring consistent application across the business
    • Responsible for the setting up and co-ordination of the entire process of effective employee relations processes and form partnerships with the on-site Unions to ensure prevention of potential issues
    • Represent the Business at the CCMA if need be
    • Responsible for the compilation of periodic, statistical and project reports in areas of responsibility
    • Facilitate the entire recruitment and selection process in line with the Group Recruitment Policy including the employee on-boarding process
    • Drive transformation activities in line with the Group Transformation Policy and agenda
    • Stay abreast of Collective Bargaining matters and developments

    Requirements: Qualification and Skill

    • National Diploma in Human Resources (or equivalent)
    • 3 - 5 years continuous job experience in a similar role
