    Overview

    Tiger Brands is embarking on a complete business transformation. The new transformation impacts everything we do, ways of working, new operating model and ensuring we achieve our objective of being a great place to work – whilst ensuring a culture of high performance.

    The finance functions new purpose is to unite as one finance community under one roof, use FSS to deliver excellent reporting and transactional support, ensuring the business is able to focus on delivering business results and partner with the business teams to influence and support supply chain, portfolio and customer decision making, relentlessly focus on improving ROI and working capital.

    In the new way of working we will consolidate Finance resources under the CFO, establish a robust business partnering model to drive decision support and align resources to operating model capability areas e.g.transactional (Shared Services organised by processes), high value decision support (Business Partners) and speciality (corporate Finance) whilst building stronger cost control capability across supply chain units and simplification of our accounting master data and processes

    We are looking for individuals who will ensure internal customer satisfaction through:

    • Forecast accuracy
    • Planning and reporting deadlines met
    • Delivery of financial targets
    • Internal controls
    • Working capital efficiency DSO and DIO
    • Multi-dimensional KPIs i.e. multi-dimensional view on product, customer and channel profitability and costing

    THE JOB AT A GLANCE

    As part of the Portfolio leadership team, the value architect, the go-to person in the portfolio for insights, fact based decisions, planning and performance support. Delivery of robust analysis to guide category investment decisions, assesses future growth opportunities, and analyse actual and forecasted financial performance. Proactive highlighting of performance concerns / opportunities and partner with the categories to plan commercial activities required to close any gaps. Lead reporting on past and future trends and ROI in support of future decision-making.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    • Support the development of the business plan based on historical trends, investment strategies and external business factors
    • Sets expectations and provides constructive challenge of the insights, commentary, P&Ls and recommendations provided by the Category teams
    • Lead the budgeting, planning and performance management activity for the categories
    • Work closely with Brand Managers, Portfolio Directors and R&D to ensure products have financially viable marketing plans which will ensure delivery of growth and financial targets (incl. marketing mix, pricing, budget allocations, return on investment on innovation projects, consumer and trade promotions)
    • Coordinate monthly analysis on category performance spend and costs proactively, providing an overview of variance versus plan, identify drivers and proactively support identification of game changing initiatives to close the gap (if required) based on input from the Finance Shared Services, Supply Chain Finance and the Customer Finance
    • Analyse business opportunities and cost saving potential across a range of initiatives including NPD and market development activity incl. P.I’s and productivity targets
    • Financial evaluation of significant investment choices from a portfolio perspective
    • Establish and maintain scorecard for categories, reviewing key P&L components such as volumes, pricing, product mix, COGS, gross margins, marketing and fixed expenses based on reports created by the Finance Shared Service and input from Supply Chain Finance and Customer Finance
    • Collaborate with other finance teams (incl. Shared Service) to ensure harmonization of processes, controls and cross-pollination of best practice
    • Coordinate internal controls, S&OP, integrated reporting and working capital management across the portfolio
    • Manage a team of Finance professionals in Categories, developing top talent for the business by providing coaching skill development opportunities

    DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCES

    Minimum Qualifications

    • CA(SA) or CIMA at strategic level
    • Experiences required to perform in the role
    • At least 4-7 years in a senior finance management role within the FMCG sector with a focus on supply chain, marketing and customer finance
    • P&L oversight, market and business understanding

    Key attributes and competencies

    • Technical know-how – extensive financial planning and analysis experience ideally within an FMCG
    • Action – always one step ahead, proactively identifying patterns and predicting potential issues / opportunities
    • Commercial astuteness - commercially aware, with superior analytical skills and a demonstrable track record
    • Dependable advice – as a great influencer you have the confidence to challenge and push for value and returns
    • Business partnering skills – with an uncanny ability to explain complex financials in a succinct and logical manner
    • Owner mindset – implementing strong governance
    • Team player – can take an enterprise view of the value chain, and build strong relationships across the business (particularly with Procurement and Finance Shared Services)
