    Chief Executive Officer

    Job description

    Key Performance Areas

    Amongst others, the key performance areas will include:

    • Development and execution and management of the overall business strategy.
    • Ensuring that the company infrastructure is optimally geared to maximise revenue growth.
    • Taking responsibility for all functional and operational areas in the company.
    • Managing and optimising existing distribution stakeholder relationships and developing additional profitable relationships.
    • Being integrally involved in assessing and managing strategic and operational risk.
    • Ensuring effective relationships with all stakeholders, be it internal, external, regulatory, partners, policyholders, et cetera.
    • Maintaining and enhancing the corporate image of the business as a significant player in the insurance and financial services arena as well as in terms of corporate citizenship and social responsibility.

    Requisite qualifications, competencies, knowledge, skills, and experience.

    Qualifications.

    • A relevant commercial and/ or financial degree/qualification.
    • A postgraduate business qualification, e.g. an MBA would be advantageous.

    Experience.

    • Solid executive experience in the financial services industry is nonnegotiable, preferably in the order of 8 to 10 years.
    • The successful candidate is likely to have at least 3 to 5 years of top executive experience in the financial services industry.

    Knowledge

    • An understanding of the financial services industry in South Africa.
    • An understanding of the regulatory environment pertaining to the financial services industry and preferably the insurance industry in South Africa.
    • An integrated comprehension of the strategic imperatives to successfully lead and manage a financial services company.
    • An integrated and solid understanding of processes and systems and operations pertaining to the financial services industry.

    Skills and competencies.

    • Well-developed and proven leadership abilities in the financial services industry.
    • Personal and interpersonal gravitas and the ability to influence and persuade at all levels with all stakeholders internally and externally.
    • An ability to lead and manage and interface with all stakeholders in a relatively varied and complex environment.
    • Exceptional business nous will be required.
    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities will be required.
    • Demonstrably achievement orientation and record in the industry.
