Relevant Experience Required

A top analytics consultancy that provides strategies and solutions to their clients are looking for a Data Team Lead to join their team in Cape Town. Candidates must have a minimum of 4 – 5 years’ experience, a relevant qualification, and strong SQL skills (HPE Vertica / MySQL / PostgreSQL), data architecting, database management, procedural and functional SQL development, data reporting and query writing.

Duties

• Ensure that data processes are kept in line with best business practices.
• Take a leading role in developing a unified data technology stack, able to deliver operationalised function across projects within the company.
• Data Management & Manipulation:
• Develop SQL environments to support incoming client and project data.
• Importing, cleaning, transforming, authenticating or modeling data with the purpose of understanding and making sound deductions from the data for decision making purposes.
• Profile client source system data, identify data anomalies and proposes data cleansing rules.
• Data Analytics:
• Identify trends in information, and recommend actions or alternatives to the findings.
• Perform statistical / data analyses reporting on an ad hoc basis.
• Present analyses in an understandable concise language.
• Data Team Management:
• Train and mentor staff in data management and analytics.
• Coordinate the work of more junior data staff.
• Track service performance and provide leadership to identify root causes of issues and implement remedial actions.
• Act as a liaison between project managers and data resources.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Minimum 4 - 5 years of experience.
• Relevant Degree / Diploma / Certification in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Maths or Stats.

Technologies

• Strong SQL abilities (HPE Vertica / MySQL / PostgreSQL).
• Database architecting.
• Database management.
• Procedural and functional SQL development.
• Data reporting and query writing.
• Strong Excel abilities.
• Linux systems (Ubuntu or similar).
• Bash and cron scripting.

• R analytics / modeling
• HPE Vertica
