    Senior Manager, Organisation Effectiveness

    Job description

    Job Purpose

    To enable and embed best practice Organisation Design, Job Architecture and Change Management for the Standard Bank Group. Design, develop and implement the group wide People Change Management methodology. Work with business to identify and plan the most appropriate course of People Change Management strategies for their initiatives and provide vendor selection support.

    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

    Design, develop and implement the policy, process, standards and guidelines for People Change Management methodology for the Group

    • Develop and review the framework that guides the methodology and practices of Change Management in the Standard Bank Group. Ensure that all substantive framework changes are approved at the Human Capital Manco prior to implementation.
    • Ensure that the process design teams continuously update the process documentation to reflect the latest practices, for all Change Management related processes in the bank.
    • Develop the standards and templates for Human Capital teams to use when engaging on Change Management internally and for the use of external service providers.
    • Collaborate with the other practices to promote the integration between Human Capital practices and processes.
    • Provide Change Management analytics and insights which Human Capital Heads and Human Capital Business Partners should be aware of and assist Business to manage.
    • Report relevant Group wide analytics and insights to Human Capital Manco.

    Manage vendor relationships and delivery on Organisational Effectiveness (OE) projects

    • Review the application of Organisational Effectiveness (OE) standards in the business. The focus is on the appropriate use of OE (Job Architecture, Change Management and Organisation Design) standards and vendors in all the markets where the bank operates.
    • Review existing suppliers against the standards and make recommendations to the Head of Organisational Effectiveness before engaging with group vendor management on the addition or exit of suppliers.
    • Support the business in engaging and sourcing vendors for all OE engagements with third party consultants. Estimate project budget prior to vendor engagement and negotiate rates. Perform a detailed review of all project proposals specifically focussing on costs and deliverables outlined. Conduct vendor briefings, and train vendors on the bank’s principles, methodology, templates, governance approvals and approach. Review samples of their outputs during the consultancy assignment and provide feedback to the consultants if their delivery does not meet the bank’s requirements. Obtain post project completion feedback from Business and Human Capital Heads / Human Capital Business Partners on Consultant performance.

    Equip the Human Capital community and Line Managers with good Organisation Design, Job Architecture and Change Management practices

    • Upskill Human Capital Business Partners and other colleagues in Human Capital on the use of Organisation Design, Job Architecture and Change Management tools, processes, methodologies.
    • Work with the Learning and Development team to develop or source formal training material for these audiences.
    • Facilitate classroom learning sessions where needed and provide coaching and advisory services to Human Capital Heads and Human Capital Business Partners.
    • Collaborate with the other practices to promote the integration between Human Capital practices and processes.
    • Provide guidance and advice to the broader Human Capital Practices team on the use of OE methodologies in relation to other practices. Collaborate on the development of new specialist products in any of these areas if needed.

    Build strategic partnerships with Human Capital and Business, and consult on Organisation Design, Job Architecture and Change Management projects

    • Build strategic partnerships with the Human Capital Heads and Human Capital Business Partners.
    • Consult with Business to design and scope projects.
    • Ensure in vendor executed projects that the Organisation Design, Change Management and Job Architecture methodology, tools and templates for Standard Bank are applied.
    • Review vendor delivery and work with Human Capital Heads and Human Capital Business Partners to ensure that delivery is executed according to the Standard Bank way. Review the outcomes of each stage of the design against agreed design principles and make recommendations to the business owners on where changes are required.
    • Oversee, advise and guide all phases of the projects.
    • Engage with the Human Capital Business Partners to ensure that project deliverables and recommendations are effectively incorporated into business as usual.
    • Conduct a post implementation review after each Organisation Design, Change Management and Job Architecture project. Document the learnings and provide debriefings to the rest of the Organisational Effectiveness team, the Human Capital team and business stakeholders.

    Develop and performance manage OE Consultants assigned to projects overseen

    Supervise OE consultants working on OE projects by overseeing and monitoring performance.

    Develop, coach and mentor OE consultants by embedding the bank's performance process, regular performance feedback and coaching.

    Preferred Qualification and Experience

    • Human Resources Masters Degree
    • Master’s Degree in Industrial Psychology
    • Human Resources Honours Degree

    Experience

    • More than 10 years Organisational Effectiveness
    • Significant experience in Organisation Design and Change Management across multiple industries
    • 5-7 Years Project Management
    • Previously managed multiple Organisation Design and Change Management Projects
    • Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise

    Change Management

    The ability to ensure that isolated and independent organisational change actions are integrated and sustained through a disciplined change process. Ability to apply change management principles and techniques for planning and implementing change in an organisation.

    Organisation Planning and Design

    The ability to design organisational structures using Levels of Work, business processes and organisational strategic objectives.

    Human Resource Consulting

    The ability to engage with leadership, managers and employees using a consultative and engaging approach while balancing the needs of the employee with that of the employer.

    Organisational Awareness

    Knows the Bank's context, vision and functions and how its political and social systems work. Is able to operate effectively in these systems.

    High Involvement Facilitation Coaching and Mentoring

    The ability to facilitate a session by dealing with ambiguity. The ability to elicit specific behaviour, change and influence attitudes, viewpoints and values by adapting style. Encourages debate and difference in opinion, integrates thoughts, objectives and problems.

    Coaching and Mentoring

    The knowledge and skills required to direct, instruct, and train employees with the aim to fulfil a goal, in order to develop specific skills in an enthusiastic, motivating manner.
