    Mid/Senior Architectural Visualisation Artist

    Description

    dhk Architects (dhk) is an award-winning, multidisciplinary design-led studio that provides the full spectrum of architecture, urban design and interior design services from its offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town. We are seeking a skilled and experienced 3D Artist. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering high-quality visualisations that can transform architectural concepts and designs into striking, sophisticated and informative 3D visual media. Our studio is a thriving, creative workplace where you’ll have the freedom to innovate and the chance to work on visualisations that translate into award-winning buildings and beautiful environments. These range from single homes to tall skyscrapers, urban-scale precincts and sophisticated interior designs.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop high-quality still images, cinemagraphs and walkthroughs from Revit and Sketchup models
    • Collaborate closely with architects, graphic designers and clients, aiding in design development and creating cutting-edge marketing media, seeing through projects from concept to delivery
    • Able to work individually and within a team, producing multiple visualisation projects simultaneously, often within short timeframes, with respect for efficiency and team-based workflow procedures
    • Critically interpreting feedback and direction from other team members, architects and clients with clear communication

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in architectural visualisation or a closely related field
    • Expertise in 3DsMax, Corona Renderer, Forest Pack, Lumion and Adobe Suite (Photoshop preferred)
    • Proficiency in Sketchup and After Effects is preferable
    • Familiarity with Revit, Autocad, Enscape and Twinmotion is an advantage
    • Essential skills include 3D modelling, texture map creation, slate-material editing, UV-mapping, scene lighting, distributed rendering, post-production and video editing
    • A keen eye for detail, composition, lighting and colour theory, with an awareness of what makes a good image that tells compelling visual stories
    • Strong understanding of architectural design, drawings, processes and language
    • Team-player and a self-starter with a passion for creating high-quality work

    Professional Architect (10-15+ years' experience CPT)

    The opportunity:

    Great opportunity for an enthusiastic design-orientated architect who will be involved in the architectural design and technical aspects of projects, from initiation/concept development and construction.

    You have excellent project management and communication skills, are adept at presenting internally and externally with clarity and have a sound understanding of the technical aspects and commercial feasibility.

    Personal attributes and experience:

    • You are a globally-minded individual with a proactive, positive, and client-centric attitude. You have an excellent academic background and are SACAP registered as a Professional Architect.
    • With at least ten years post-qualification experience, you have demonstrable design skills. You have had experience from design inception stage to construction, on a variety of large-scale/complex projects.
    • Your strong aesthetic sensitivity and thorough technical knowledge is complemented by expertise in construction drawing and detailing, an intricate understanding of building systems and materials, and infallible knowledge of practice and industry standards and codes.
    • A clear and precise communicator, you thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, enjoy working collaboratively and imparting your knowledge while contributing to multiple teams, and have exemplary time-management and delivery skills.
    • You are Revit & BIM CDE proficient and possess working knowledge of Enscape, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, and Microsoft software.  A thorough understanding of all collaboration techniques, modelling techniques and Revit best practices is expected. Prior training and certifications in Revit and other Autodesk software is a must.
    • You are fluent in English, prepared to travel and eligible to work in South Africa.

    Requirements

    • At least 5 years of post-graduate experience in urban design
    • Experience in and passion for urban design and able to manage complex urban design projects across a range of scales.
    • Experience in client liaison, consultant coordination, and a demonstrated ability to manage projects.
    • You should be a self-motivated, highly organised person with strong design capabilities, drawing and graphic ability, project coordination and report writing skills to work on our broad range of urban design projects.
    • You should be able to learn new programmes quickly with a demonstrated literacy in standard industry software including Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp and the Adobe Suite is essential.
    • Candidates must be eligible to work in South Africa
    • An Urban design qualification and/or registration with SACAP and/or UDISA would be an advantage.

    dhk | BIM Coordinator (CPT)

    Description

    We are seeking a skilled and experienced BIM Coordinator to join our dynamic architectural practice. As a BIM Coordinator, your primary responsibility is to ensure that all members of the project team are following the BIM Execution Plan and dhk BIM Best Practices. This includes making sure that everyone is using the right software, exchanging data regularly, and adhering to the model standards set forth in the plan. Additionally, you must be able to effectively communicate with all team members to keep everyone on track.

    Responsibilities:

    Standards

    • Able to implement ISO19650 standards
    • Manage the creation and maintenance of BIM models on various projects
    • Implement BIM processes throughout the project lifecycle
    • Coordinate with project teams to ensure successful BIM integration
    • Update, develop and implement BIM standards, procedures and guidelines along with the BIM Manager
    • Provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions
    • Assist in the automation of routines in BIM to support standards and productivity
    • Assist in developing and enforcing BIM documentation and workflow processes and standards with the BIM Manager
    • Train, mentor, and oversee staff on BIM best practices with the BIM Manager
    • Collaborate with clients and contractors to ensure successful BIM implementation
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and new technologies related to BIM
    • Manage software products including but not limited to incorporating new version releases and customisation of the products with the BIM Manager and IT Support.

    Support

    • Install and support related BIM software along with the BIM Manager and IT Support
    • Liaise with Autodesk where necessary
    • Liaise with software developer support staff where necessary

    Training

    • Assist the BIM Manager with providing Revit training internally to all staff as deemed necessary
    • Assist the BIM Manager in providing technical orientation and BIM induction for all new staff
    • Maintain high-level competency through ongoing training
    • Attend conferences, seminars and workshops for BIM and disseminate information as required in conjunction with the BIM Manager

    Project Interface

    • Assist with project work – modelling and detailing
    • Assist project teams on BIM project setup
    • Create Revit families in response to project need
    • Manage & Capture Asset Data (COBie, Uniclass and Omniclass)
    • Help resolve various BIM needs in conjunction with the BIM Manager
    • Implement and maintain any projects BIM Execution Plan

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field

    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in BIM Coordination
    • Strong knowledge of BIM software (e.g. Revit, Navisworks, etc)
    • Experience with project collaboration tools (e.g. BIM 360 & ACC)
    • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and clients
    • Understanding of building construction and documentation processes
