    Engineer

    Job description

    Job Summary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Management of projects within the department.
    • Preparation of road designs, bills of quantities, contract documentation and tender evaluation, administration of construction contracts and ad-hoc site supervision.
    • Project execution and ensure that projects are undertaken to a quality management system, to high technical standards, within budget and programme.
    • Financial management, administration and control of projects
    • Management and support of/to the project team
    • Guidance and mentoring of junior staff
    • Business development – support tender pursuits and/or proposals for roads project
    • Any other work, related to projects in the department, as directed by the Team Leader.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a Consulting Engineering environment, specialising in the Transportation sector.
    • Strong background in terms of Geometric Design on major roads projects.
    • Suitable relevant experience working on SANRAL and Western Cape Government projects.

    • Ability to work independently or in team environment.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Committed and motivated individual.
    • Ability to multi-task – work on several projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to plan, lead, support and execute work independently or within a multi-disciplinary project team environment.

    Other comments

    • Own reliable transport.
    • Proficiency in industry-standard design and project management software e.g. Civil 3D, MS Project.
    • Although projects will predominantly be in South Africa, the candidate will need to demonstrate a willingness to undertake projects within Africa, while being based in the Bellville office.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
    • Professionally registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or in the process of registering with ECSA
