About the job

We are looking for a dynamic Professional Services Consulting Head with the following competencies:

• Background – have a deep understanding of civil / transportation design and construction work flows. Transportation BIM knowledge is an advantage. Ideally the successful candidate will have worked for one of the major engineering or consulting firms in Africa.
• Consulting – past infrastructure consulting experience (within and engineering firm or one of the big 4 management consulting firms in Africa).
• Leadership – Have previous experience running a professional services or civil transportation design or CAD office, with at least 10 direct reports
• Experience – have a broad base of project management experience, or asset management exposure in road, Rail, Water with experience in civil, site and survey
• Skills – competence in strategic consulting relating to the Civil Engineering sector. Excellence written and verbal communication skills and strong motivation skills

About the person

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications and experiences:

• A recognised Civil Engineering degree is preferred, with equivalent experience;
• At least 10 years of experience in a Professional Services/consulting/EPC environment;
• Experience working in Africa and an understanding of the dynamics of the continent;
• Able to travel into Africa for consulting and project related assignments.

Skills and abilities

• An ability to build processes and templates for a services division
• An ability to manage risk profiles and implement technology according to a recognized methodology
• Solid experience in project management and the implementation of software
• Excellent process consultation skills, specifically technology consulting and integration
• An ability to expand user workflows to add value through the whole design/build and operate lifecycle

Leadership:

• An ability to hire, nurture and grow a sustainable consulting services team
• Strong business acumen
• Solid critical thinking and analysis capability
• Ability to engage with senior levels within large engineering consulting firms and infrastructure owners
• Ability to uncover needs and present business solutions to senior management teams, using business domain consulting methodologies
• Have a strong understanding of blended learning methods and adoption of technology
• Solid and reliable references
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft office)
