    Manager II: Marketing & Online Strategy

    Job Specification

    • The Johannesburg Business School (JHB Business School) is one of the Schools within the College of Business & Economics. The School is actively recruiting for a Manager II: Marketing and Online Strategy to join its dynamic team.
    • The incumbent will be responsible to manage the marketing, branding, online strategy and communication of the School. His/her duties will include the following:
    • To plan, implement and control and evaluate internal marketing and communication activities within the School.
    • Engage on brand strategy and marketing strategy within the School and UJ.
    • To position the School among relevant stakeholders and build a favourable public profile.
    • To implement internal marketing communication initiatives
    • Manage and roll out Online and blended learning.
    • Manage online outputs and learning with the departments of the School.
    • Build an Online strategy.
    • Update and manage content of the School’s website that is appropriate for all targeted audiences.
    • Utilise social networking platforms to communicate with targeted audiences.
    • Establish and maintain an internal network within the School to promote the position of the School within the College and UJ.
    • Create and foster relations with external organisations to build mutually beneficial collaborations.
    • Create and foster relations with external organisations in order to obtain sponsorships.
    • Conduct market research to effectively promote the School within the relevant markets.
    • Write articles on current research topics within the School to support the communication to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Provide marketing support service to various departments (e.g. community outreach programmes/ conferences etc.) to ensure adherence to corporate marketing guidelines / regulations.
    • Develop marketing and communication programmes to achieve set objectives in events management, advertising, publications, etc.
    • Ensuring that the School’s marketing strategy adheres to the corporate marketing strategy, policies and procedures of the University of Johannesburg (Governance).
    • Implement, control and evaluate these programmes.
    • Keep abreast of the environment, developments and trends of the internal and external marketing segments
    • Compile, manage and implement marketing strategy for the School.
    • Compile and manage the School’s marketing budget.
    • Budget control and management of School marketing.
    • Support third-stream income to maximise resource generation for the School.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • An Honour's degree (on NQF 8 level) in Marketing/Communication.
    • A valid Code B (formerly Code 08) driver’s licence.
    • Operational-level experience in marketing and communication (three to five years).
    • Experience in marketing, branding and advertising.
    • Deep understanding of Brand Strategy.
    • Good understanding of the environment and networks and mediums of marketing: from broadcast, to print to social media etc.
    • Training and experience in the above-mentioned mediums.
    • Deep understanding of Online and experience in running or launching online education – preferably in the business school.
    • Strong business network.
    • Deep understanding of SA and African business education.
    • Interest and understanding in market development in Africa and beyond.

    COMPETENCIES AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES:

    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and the ability to adapt communications to a range of audiences.
    • Marketing and communication strategy skills are essential.
    • Ability to merge marketing and online.
    • Good planning and organising skills.
    • Results driven.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Good listening skills.
    • Good financial management and budgeting skills.

    RECOMMENDATIONS:

    Experience in Business School Marketing and Business development.
