Customs Controller at PEP

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Submission and validations of all import and export customs entries
• Co-ordination and Reporting on all Customs Matters
• Ensure all customs stop notifications are complied with and replies are actioned within the specified Customs framework.
• Control all aspects of Preferred Trader Compliance
• Assisting with tariffing of all PEP products local, imports and exports
• Follow up of all outstanding documents from the suppliers to avoid late clearances
• Update of all events relevant to the shipment module on MMS database.
• Assistance with adhoc projects relating to imports and exports
• Assistance with weekly and month end reports
• General office administration (incl. filing, updating of reports, emails.)

Job Incumbent Requirements:

• Matric
• Import/exports qualification will be an advantage
• Minimum 3 years Imports/exports experience required
• Knowledge of Customs software packages such as core freight / compu - clear / cargo wise essential
• Knowledge of tariff headings essential
• Strong administration skills – Fanatical attention to detail and data accuracy
• Computer Literacy: MS Excel, Outlook
• Competencies required: Sufficient knowledge of Customs and Excise Act, Planning, organizing and control; Detail Orientation; Stress Tolerance; Communication and Service Orientation.
