Role Purpose

To be involved in all aspects of actuarial management of a short-term insurer; including business intelligence, underwriting, capital modelling, reserve setting, product development ,pricing and other ad-hoc commercial involvements. This is a broad technical role with opportunities to develop in a large range of directions.

Responsibilities and work outputs

• Collect data from various sources and assess the completeness and accuracy of the data.
• Performs data analysis using Excel, SQL and the like.
• Performs detailed statistical investigations using specialised software.
• Interpret reports to make sense of the numbers.
• Advising on the appropriate actions to be taken given the results.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Sciences, Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Informatics, Finance Commerce or Business Sciences.
• Good progress with the CT series subjects of the Actuarial Society of South Africa (or equivalent body).
• 1-3 years’ work experience will be beneficial.
• Short-term experience will be beneficial.
• Basic programming skills would be advantageous.
