    Chief Audit Executive

    Job description

    Major Activities:

    • Designing long term internal audit strategy
    • Directing the identification and evaluation of company risk areas and overseeing the development of the annual audit plan
    • Phasing synchronizing a three year rolling audit plan with long term strategy
    • Developing implementation plan to phase in company sourcing relationship and creating synergistic benefits with current outsourced service provider
    • Providing business with best practice knowledge base and industry practice
    • Attending all Audit & Risk Committee meetings
    • Responding appropriately to the requests of Executives and Audit & Risk Committee Members with regards to special investigations and ad hoc projects
    • Understanding business risk universe and key issues impacting business
    • Developing in conjunction with External Audit, Executives and other key functions a three year audit plan to address risk
    • Designing appropriate methodologies, systems and procedures to ensure compliance with business risk
    • Testing compliance with regulatory requirements and providing feedback to Executives and Audit & Risk Committee with regard to company compliance levels
    • Recruiting appropriate personnel to create competent and skilled capacity within internal audit function
    • Ensuring that previously reported items are cleared timeously and corrective action and follow up mechanisms are in place to address reported items
    • Investigating whistle-blowing matters referred on time

    Minimum Qualification:

    CA (SA) with CIA as an additional advantage

    Minimum Experience:

    10 years internal auditing experience of which 3-5 years should be managerial experience in an internal audit department within a private company

    Desired Additional Qualification And Work Experience:

    • Experience in Audit Committee interaction / liaison
    • Management of Internal Audit function
