    Business Analyst

    Job description

    Minimum Requirements / Competencies:

    • Relevant Tertiary IT Qualification or Certificate/Diploma in Business Process Analysis from industry recognized training institution
    • 3 - 5 years’ experience as Business Analyst
    • Experience in Technical Writing
    • Experience in communicating with clients and facilitating workshops
    • Logical and Critical Thinking
    • Mathematical thinking
    • Great communication skills
    • Structured thinker with the ability to formulate the business domain requirements into a logical framework.
    • Tertiary education in areas of mathematics, science or physics is recommended for this reason.
    • Ability to document logical structure into a precise and clear documentation using standards such as UML etc.
    • Ability to research new areas and systems.
    • Ability to investigate problems to find the cause from a functionality perspective.
    • Problem solver – Think out the box!
    • Understanding of software requirement and development processes, including agile methodologies
    • Willingness to work within a structured and professional environment
    • Able to manage the delivery of projects and handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Client Liaison & research
    • Working with clients on a day to day business
    • Determines operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats.
    • Designs new computer programs by analyzing requirements; constructing workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications.
    • Improves systems by studying current practices; designing modifications.
    • Recommends controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures.
    • Defines project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases, and elements; forming project team; establishing the project budget.
    • Monitors project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions.
    • Maintains system protocols by writing and updating procedures.
    • Provides references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation; providing help desk support; training users.
    • Maintains user confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
    • Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
    • Researching industry regulations and standards
    • Problem-solving complex scenarios to create efficiencies for clients
    • Project manage all developments together with the Developers and the client. This covers the development process from resource allocation/prioritisation, analysis, design, piloting and implementation
    • Manage all functional and user documentation
    • Support relating to the developed systems (2nd level)
    • Adhere to Alchimea development methodologies and standards
    • Analyse, identify and correct software defects arising from production issues
    • Manage new client implementations and training
