    Senior Marketing Manager

    Job description

    Rheinmetall Denel Munition (Somerset West Plant) is looking for a Senior Marketing Manager who will be responsible for the identification of business opportunities within an appointed region/product group, development of an acquisition strategy, acquisition of orders and management of customer relationships.

    REPORTING TO: Executive Manager: New Business Development and Sales

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    Identification and development of business opportunities:

    • Pre-empt requirements through market research/ market awareness and engagement with stakeholders.
    • Position RDM as potential supplier and offer commercially attractive solutions.

    Development of an acquisition strategy:

    • Development of marketing structures (agents, distributors, local industry).
    • Product offering strategy.
    • Price strategy.
    • Analysis of and strategy to beat competitive offerings.

    Acquisition of orders:

    • Secure formal Request for Proposals/ Request for Quotations.
    • Define customer requirements in both quantitative and qualitative terms.
    • Prepare/submit quotation to customers and promote/sell as comprehensive solution to stated requirements.

    Internal facilitation:

    • Initiate and facilitate formal contract review processes.
    • Liaise with internal role players to collate relevant inputs and establish an executable solution.
    • Compile and submit an internal business proposal motivation for approval by delegated individuals.
    • Customer relationship management:
    • Regular and effective communication with end users/technical advisors/distributors.
    • Monitor and ensure optimal customer satisfaction.

    POST REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum Marketing and/or Commercial Degree or relevant NQF 6 equivalent qualification.
    • 5 years broad marketing and selling experience within the manufacturing industry.
    • 5 years experience and understanding of the defence industry (customers, suppliers and product requirements).
    • Knowledge of the product life cycles in terms of development, industrialisation, business development, order acquisition, order execution and through life support.
    • Broad experience in industry standards (arms control protocols, trade legislation, shipping hazardous goods , payment instruments and quality standards).
    • Proven experience in contract negotiations with end users, procurement agencies and business partners in the international marketing arena.
    • Knowledge of business development protocols, product performance properties and military application doctrines
    • Strong business and financial acumen.
    • Good interpersonal, conflict management and negotiation skills.
    • Good communication, presentation and planning and organising skills.
    • Good administrative skills and computer literacy (MS Office packages including MS Projects)
    • Willing to travel nationally and internationally.
